Mini's first service...

Hey all,

Having my first service today. It got to 10,800 before indicating it needed seeing to (not bad). Last 5 months has been awesome and I have been surprised over and over again as to the qulaity of the car. It does have a few things needing looking at though:

- speedo rattles
- inside of drivers window gets damp when you open it
- sat nav system has crashed 3 times
- exposed wire by accelerator
- loose door mirror cover
- sometimes jerky cruise control

Not too bad for a new car's first service....what do you think?

Me to!!

Just booked my mcs in for its first service to, didn't do quite as well as you though, I'm 0n 9100 miles with 400 to go till the service! Its so hard trying not to put that foot down too much!
I've been well impressed though, two problems to date, the side indicator came out and broke, the dealer replaced both to be safe in 10 minutes why i waited! And my drivers side electic folding mirror no longer folds electrically! thats being looked at during the service though!

Hey,

When you start your car up it'll tell you where the mileage is usually shown...

I must have been driving like a granny then! Cos just had my first service done, at 11900 miles! It was when it said it needed doing, and the Mini is 9 months old, but I think it may be because a lot of my driving is motorway based, cruising at 70 (ish, honest guv!)

Have a feeling now I've had the JCW Sound kit fitted that I'm not gonna be quite as good at ekking out the service intervals now though! lol!

but you really need to read your manual. It can save lots of mistakes and give you all sortsof good information. (eg: when to go to your first service and where it's shown on the ddash). :-)

Hi Fred3, thanks for the reply,

Quote 'but you really need to read your manual. It can save lots of mistakes and give you all sortsof good information. (eg: when to go to your first service and where it's shown on the ddash). :-)'

Yes, I understand what your saying. But I think the reason my MC didnt get serviced until 11900 miles, is because it didnt need it! That distance was the point when the on board computer told me (at startup when it comes on with the miles remaining to next service display) that it was time for it to be done. I value my Mini Cooper so much in fact that the day I got her I came straight home and spent 2 1/2 hours reading the manual before I took her out for a propper drive! She is my first ever brand new car, is cossetted and cleaned, pampered and polished, she's my baby and theres no way I will let any harm come to her from omission or inaction on my part! But, having said all that, thanks very much for your kind concern! :-)
