Angry Dealer has wrecked my MINI

Put my MINI in the dealership yesterday to get some rattles sorted out.

Picked it up tonight, all nice and clean... so I thought. F***ing swirl maks all over my 3 week car, all over the f***ing thing. I'm going in there tomorrow, I am absolutely gutted.

A) I did not ask them to clean my car
B) My car was practically clean already
C) I always clean my car by hand
D) The info sheet they give you when you pick up the car advises not to go in carwashes, but to wash by hand!!!!

I am bloody fuming : angry:

sorry to hear mate

make sure you keep us informed how you get on when you go see them

not sure what they can do as the swirl marks are a bugger to completely remove

good luck!

All over the bloody thing - £16,000 price tag obviously comes with them being able to wreck your posession, and extract the urine. Nice one BMW.

I know you now this already Baskers, but for everyone else....when your car goes into the dealer for heavens sake instruct them to not wash or for that matter vallet the car. My local Sytner Dealer has like a tiny version of a garage car wash.....all it does is put swirls and scratches on your car. It happened with me just the once with a couple of minor scratches rather than all over swirls which luckily I was able to remove with a subtle cutting compound. From then on though ....learnt my lesson.

Baskers.....Kick up about it Big style. State that it's tantamount to criminal damage so they should sort it!

Scratches being just in the wax and will wash out??

I am going to go crazy about it, I'll make sure they compensate me sufficiently. Either a new paint job, or they get rid of the swirls. Pronto.

Ask them to restore your car to the condition it was before they ruined it. And if they refuse, sue them for negligence. You have a right to expect a certain standard of care from your dealer. Obviously they failed to meet these standards.

Cheers for the advice guys. Have a horrid feeling they're going to go "Nope, wasn't us".

I first got suspicious when I wondered why my ariel had been removed, and placed in the passenger seat. Hmmm. ********

Sales are fine at Cobham but Service is so bad we came very close to cancelling the order for our last MINI.

My wife agreed to have her MC washed there once with no adverse affect, but we normally tell them not to.

Let's hope you aren't dealing with Paul on service. If you aren't happy with him complain to the dealer principal. I think they have lost count of the number of complaints about him.

Wow! I thought that only happened at my dealership, didn't know it was in the UK as well. When my Chili red MINI went in for it's first service they "washed" it. It looked like they'd scrubbed it with a bristle brush Scratches and swirl marks all over and stripped every bit of wax off! Fortunately after a sealer application and a few coates of wax, the marks were gone.

What is it with BMW/MINI dealers Never ,ever, ever let these nimrods "wash" your motorcar. When I take it in now the first thing I tell them is DON'T WASH IT!!!!! and make them write it in big felt tip letters on the service order.

Sorry to hear it happens over there as well. Hope you get yours sorted

Called the dealership this morning - they said that they will restore the paintwork to the unswirled state. Called from my work phone, so conversation's recorded.

I have been very pleased with my MINI service (apart from this of course). If the swirl marks aren't out, then I'll complain again, and again, and again...

I'll let you know how the situation pans out, but very pleased that they are acting upon it. Had this been Renault then they would have told me to FO.

I apprecaite that what has happened isn't great, but I hoenstly thought when I read the title of this thread that the dealer had totally smashed up your Mini and it had been written off. So if you look on the positive side, at least this didn't happen.

Hope you gt everything sorted.

To me it's wrecked, thank you. Yes, it's not smashed up. But it has swirls and scratches all over which were not done by me, and without consent. On something which cost £16k, and is three weeks old.

I saved for the best part of a year for this vehicle, and to me, damaging my property, in any way shape or form is wrecked.
