I'm looking to hire a MINI Cooper for a week or so for my Birthday. (A last ditch attempt to get my wife to want one too!)
Does anybody know anywhere?

My dealer didn't have any courtesy cars available when my MINI went into my dealer after an accident. They did, however, suggest I contact Alp Hire on 0500 224455, as they have MINIs in their fleet. Not sure whether they are available for hire by individuals, but maybe worth a try.

I didn't actually need to use them as my insurer arranged the courtesy car instead (pity, it's a 1.0l Corsa), so can't give you any more info.

i have also seen a few driving schools using them

so maybe you could book an all day lesson ?

Check your local rent-a-car chain. In the US Budget Rent-a-Car has them. It was $125 a day plus $.45 a mile
We rented a Yellow / White and did 200 miles in a day.

Budget in Belgium have them.

You tend to find that if a UK Rental Company has MINIs or other quirky cars, not all locations will stock them. Most airport and large city centre rental locations will have these types of cars but they won't show on their websites.

For example: I can only hire the standard Fiesta through to Mondeo from my local Hertz Agent. From airports and other city locations I've had Lexus IS200, Alfa 156, Alfa 166, BMW Zs, Merc CLKs and even a "smashing" Daewoo Espero!

Best thing to do is ring around using Yellow Pages and ask.

A long time ago in a thread far far away, I once read that:

AIM car rental near Chiswick Park (West London) had them... The number given was: 020-8742-8955.

As DCP mentioned, most big firms do flash hires at prime locations...
I've had some nice ones from Budget just behind Selfridge off Oxford Street. There's allegedly some other car garage near there doing fancy hires too... sorry, can't remember name of that one.

Seen Minis pictured at Hertz Zurich - Maybe Hertz Heathrow has some?

You should talk to Mini Rentals in the UK. They have all sorts of MINIs and they also say they're getting Cabrios in as soon as they're out. They're on 0845 4900 184 or www.mini-rentals.co.uk
