United-States New (Old) Owner - The Circle is Complete.

The affair began in 1971 when I bought an Austin 850 mini. Not very expensive, but she was my first car, and thus was beautiful in all respects. Canary yellow, not much umph, but tons of fun to drive. I gussied her up with Cosmic wheels, Pirelli tires, Koni gas shocks and a bigger engine and sped around town with my hair on fire. What a blast! But life catches up with you, and Uncle Sam invited me on a S.E. Asia Tour, so I sold her and headed over the horizon.
The years went by, but the love never died. When BMW resurrected the brand I watched with interest. Finally, with some money in the bank and a Sweetheart who absolutely had to have one, we went to see the dealer, and, there on the floor was our Cooper S. It really takes me back, and my Baby really loves driving it, too. We are, once again, Mad Mini Commandos! Ah, life is great!
So, greetings fellow travellers. May you enjoy your journey as much as we enjoy ours.

Welcome to mini2 and I know you will enjoy your Cooper S . The world moves on,
I'm glad to say Uncle Sam and Her Britannic Majesty no longer invite people on tour they
merely facilitate travel for volunteers. You'll also find the Mini quite different, BMW have
sensible enlarged the car so it no longer fits neatly into any of the larger potholes in US
roads. If my limited BMC Mini experience is anything to go by then they are a lot more
reliable as well. Despite the increase in size it must still look small in traffic in the land
where F150's are the popular choice of runabout.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs

Welcome to MINI2

I stored my 1967 Austin Cooper S after being drafted, but it was stolen in August 1972 about a year and a half after leaving Uncle Sam's Army:

Maybe it wasn't a '63.

After finding a great little book (Chris Rees - "Complete Classic MINI 1959-2000") I am doubting my memory . My first Mini might have been a '61 vice a '63. You know how memories can be, especially at my advanced age. Regardless, the memories are good.

Thanks for the great replies.

Sorry about the '67. That hurts!
