front seat connectors

i have just got some new half leather mini seats to replace my existing standard seats in my mini one(2002). the new seats only have one connector underneath(yellow connector) however my current seats have two - a yellow and blue connector. can anyone please tell me what these connectors do? also if i put in the new seats and i can only coonect the yellow connector will this cause any problems if i cant connect the blue connector?

any advise or info would be helpful, many thanks woodie.

Yellow is side airbags and blue is seatbelt pre tensioners, have you got to take the pre tensioner off your old seats, thats the only thing I can think of.

Dont be suprised if the Airbag Warning Light comes on sometime soon.
It senses that the side airbag connector has been disconnected for whatever reason and then usually goes into Failsafe Mode where ALL the airbags become inoperational.
The system then has to be reset by the dealer in order to get it all working again

That'll only happen if they're disconnected when the ignition is turned on. So long as they were reconnected to the new seats by the time he turned the ignition on there would be no problems.

What Damo said ^^^

And if you replace the seats with one without airbags you need to get them deactivated or use a 4ohm resistor to push into the yellow socket to stop the light coming on.

If it is accidently set off just disconnect the battery for 30 mins.

i did'nt disconnect the battery but made sure i did'nt have the key in the ignition! then disconnected the yellow and blue connectors on both front seats and then waited for about 15 mins just in case the airbags went off. took old seats out, put in the new ones in and then re-connected the connectors. turned the engine on, waited and no airbag warning light! result! used the car twice today and still no warning light!
