Exclamation 2003 production

I went to my dealership today. I was informed that there WILL be an increase in price for the 2003 mini's starting in September. Due to our monsoons and their satellite going out, she was unable to tell me the price difference and what changes will be made to the coopers. Therefore, I am going to put my deposit down by the end of this month so I can have a 2002 Cooper. Yeah!!!!

If I get any more info I will post it, but I doubt it. Might want to contact other dealers for more info, they probably attended the satellite meeting.

Yeah, if I order it this week it will go into the august production and I will receive it October/November. I'm ordering from Mini of Scottsdale here in AZ.

The 2003 will surely have less problems and will only be a few quid more. £50 tops methinks.

it seems that most of the troubles posted here have been outside of the US....few exceptions 5sp linkage, cold start and a few cracked windscreens...these being resolved by BMW.
are there different specs for the US cars?

£50 tops may be the case in the UK, but dealers in the US and Canada have been talking in the range of 2-4% increase in base price costs, and 0% increase on options. 3% on the $16300 base price of a Cooper is $489 (£310), 3% on the $19300 base price of a Cooper S is $579 (£367). Not huge, but worth thinking about. That's more than the Cold Weather Package costs, for example...

I've heard the second key thing, but nothing firm on the price. They come with three keys, but only one fancy key. One full-featured key with the little built in remote stuff, one standard key with no extra stuff (just a normal key), and one credit card type plastic emergency key. A lot of people have been cheesed off because a second fancy key is really really expensive...

I think the extra remote key alone would be well worth $100.00.......

Absolutely, given that US dealers are currently charging more than that to buy a second one!

$128 for my second key. The best part about the second key (full function) is that you aren't forced to lock the car door by using the key in the exterior lock. The car makers way of making sure stupid people won't lock their car keys in the car.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

I just called Long Beach MINI (reviewed on this forum as one of the best MINI Dealers in the US) and they said they have not gotten any offical word on 2003 models. I have a good relationship with them and all they know is that cars ordered in September will almost deffinatly be 2003's. They expect the cupholder to be changed and all changes that have been made in the 2002 models (fixed seats, ect...) will be in the 2003's but thats only what they expect, not know for sure.

Sigh....
Mini North Scottsdale mentioned that they would know more about 2003 models/pricing after a video conference to have occurred yesterday afternoon. Also said that it could be 10 months before we get to order our MCS ...sigh...
We placed a deposit in May of this year. On the bright side they've also petitioned MINI to increase their current allotment of 10 MCSs per month.
Looking forward to motoring with the other Phoenix Minis!

Mike

don't most auto makers keep the specs pretty close for model changes, atleast for the first few years. I haven't ever heard of a car that has went through major changes every new model year.
