Mini HotWheels

One of my major hobby's is collecting/restoring and customizing HotWheels toy cars . Hotwheels has released a 2002 Mini Cooper in there basic car line this year(1/83 scale). It is one of the First Editions for this year and will be showing up in most stores soon. Since I customize them(1st place in the Hotwheels Nationals this Year) I will be converting this one to a S type. I will have to fabricate a hood, wheels, wing, exhaust etc.. but it will be cool to have one exactly like my real one( if it ever gets here). Heres a before photo...........

Sounds like a fun hobby.

You will have to post pictures of the finished car.

sounds great and you must be good if you have won previously, you should put a few pictures of your competition cars on here.

Look forward to seeing your S when it is completed

I'd like to find an Indi Blue with a black roof! That would be !!

Snow creates a chemical imbalance in most peoples brains that makes them forget how to drive.

Draken , I found it in a Walmart but it will soon start shipping to all stores . The way Hotwheels work is there are a number of new first editions(42 this year) that are released a few at a time. Like everything else the new releases are hard to find at first, but after a while they are hanging in every store. I think you also live in NJ like me so if you cant find one let me know .
Some people have dyed the cars with fabric dye to get different colors if they do not want to paint them . You just have to remember the starting color will effect the outcome . The yellow base color should allow red, orange, black and maybe blue .
I use all automotive PPG,Metalflake or HOK paints on my customs and will be doing a flamed one as well . I will post photo's when done.

Electra if you push the little tab under the car by the rear bumper it opens up and has a nice interior, roll cage and all. That casting of the cooper was first released in yellow as a first edition .Enjoy...

Those previous Hot Wheels are based upon a race version of the classic Mini. I've got one on my desk at work that gets a lot of mileage when I'm talking on the phone.
