0 to 60 in 6.5 seconds?

Okay I’m very confused I was on mini usa looking at the new GP because im putting a deposit down on one after the pricing is announced and I saw that the 0-60 time is 6.5 sec? How ridiculous to give a number like that if the MCS with JCW gets a 6.3 in 0-60 in the road and track test. And doesn’t the GP have 7 more HP and is 110lbs lighter with a lower drag coefficient and a limited slip diff and lighter alloys that should surely put it in the 5.9 second range don’t you think.

Doesn't the new CIVIC Si gets something like 5.9 for 0-60?

Quoted figures for the JCW 210bhp car is 6.6 seconds 0-62 mph. this is the official figure.

Its unusual for cars to actually out perform their official figures, so i'm surprised to see it posted as 6.2 anywhere.

7hp and 110 won't knock times into the 5's.
70hp ans 220lbs will though...barely

Imagine this scenario;
You are a car manufacturer, and to aid the selling of your car you post the 0-60mph times your car can attain. These numbers come from your car being driven by a professional in ideal conditions. Joe Punter, who considers himself an exceptional driver (and don't we all ... ) buys said car based on this information but try has he might can not replicate the published figures. He then spends the next three weeks 'phoning everyone in the chain of command from the bottom up espousing how he feels he's been conned, how he wants a full refund, they'll hear from his lawyer, don't know who they're dealing with, blah blah blah. It might seem like a stretch but these people are out there. Anyway, in future the manufacturer avoids these headaches by understating the performance claims. Then 'Road & Track' tests the car with a professional driver in perfect conditions....I think the official MINI line on 0-60 for the JCW is 6.6, but 'Road & Track' got 6.7 from a regular 'S'. Oh well, it gives us a target!
Great picture of the flying MINI, by the way!!

Im glad you like the picture The road and track info is from the current april eddidtion and is in the back of the magazine some where. I saw specification figures posted of cars and it showed a 0- 60 time of 6.3 seconds however it also said that the slalom was a slower speed than the standererd MCS. WHATEVER
I think your right about the liability of the manufacture not wanting to deal with a lawsuit .

Unfortunateley that new GP I was all set and ready to put a deposit down on may not come my way after the speeding ticket I got today. The officer diddnt understand I was trying to get around a dump truck which put two rock chips on my bonnet and a chip on my windsheild.

6 points off my license, $263.40 gone, a court appearence, and 15 day licence suspension

Thats life.

That is very unfortunate. But 6 points? How fast where you going? Any chance of getting it reduced?
