Running in JCW

Evening all I have just had the JCW Kit installed and have to say I am very happy with it,the trouble is I have to wait 1251 miles before I can exceed 4500 rpm. Just as it starts getting exciting I have to change up. As I drive a cab 6 days a week it looks like I am going to have to go on a trip from Portsmouth to Scotland and back as I am eager to get it run in asap, as I am currently driving it 100 miles a week due to cabbying commitments. Is it a hard and fast rule with regard to running in or is it not that important. Any comments would be gratefully recieved. My car is an 02 with 27530 miles on the clock.

How many miles were on your MINI when the kit was fitted?

Didnt bother running mine in - and if your kit was 'retro' fitted theres really no need to run in.

Then the red line is your friend mate.

Did you get it at a dealer or at John Cooper Garages? Dealers often get this wrong, if in doubt, talk to Chris aat John Cooper Garages....

Got it done at a dealer plus it recommends 1251 miles on the certificate they give you when the work is done

The break-in period only applies to cars which have not already gone through the normal 1250 mile break-in.
