MNII's, MINI's, everywhere

I had to take a trip to Southampton yesterday for a work meeting. Just after I left to get back I spotted a transporter in S'mton laden with MINI's, not far from the Docks. Ooooh, I felt an irresistable urge to follow it. After a while it turned into the Docks (Gate 4 I think) which had security checks, etc, so I thought "better not" . However, took next right (behind Ocean Village) drove to the sea edge and was rewarded with the site of a RORO loading MINI's.

So back to work (@ Basingstoke) ...noticed Scotshall BMW dealers just off motorway....so I took a look...another 15 MINI's.

Let's get back to work ...passed by no less than another 4 transporters heading South all full of Coopers and Cooper S. I even met 5 MINIs being driven on the road!

A glimpse of Heaven?...I can't wait for the real thing ... 2 weeks to build...5 weeks to delivery

eBrit

About four months ago I was driving towards Marchwood (a place on the other side of Southampton Water) when I happened to be behind a transporter with MINIs which was travelling in the same direction, so I followed it as it turned into a business park, accidentally ignoring the checkpoint (which the transporter did anyway) and followed it down a narrow service road until I could go no further. I could still see a large area with parked transporters stacked full of MINIs in the distance, but quickly turned back just incase security got a bit suspicious! MINI transporters are quite a common sight on the dock approach roads in Southampton.

Scotthall Hampshire at Chandlers Ford is my local MINI dealer, and if you are travelling on the M3 you can also visit Wood in Hampshire at Odiham (small dealer but worth a look), and Barons of Farnborough (another small dealer). I do like Snows of Portsmouth though! (Hi to Graham and Ben, who are probably not reading this )

I've been doing quite a few trips up and down the A34 past Newbury recently and have taken great delight in spotting transporter loads of Minis. The record though was when I travelled up to Yorkshire in June and saw 7 transporter loads (three of them full of Cooper S's) within about half hour!

I noticed on another thread that one of our Oz members refered to MINI's arriving at Southampton by train. Do they? And can you see much of Wilhelmus operations from the other side of Southamton Water? ...if so, I might take a look

eBrit

PS I rate Snow's too...thats where my MCS is on order.

I have just seen a transporter full of only yellow MINIs, competition prizes maybe, or a paint problem with the yellow that means all the yellow MINIs had to be delivered late, who knows
