When was comfort opening available from?

Tried a search but couldn't find the info so when did the comfort opening of the windows and sunroof via remote become an option?

I believe the early cars could only do it by turning the key in the door barrell and holding it in that position.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Not sure, I know Abi's March '02 build required a software upgrade to be able to do all it should have been able to, but I know that pre-production/press cars had comfort opening via the remote even before the launch (seen it wiv me own eyes guv). So technically, from day 1, but some cars it just didn't seem to work on (for whatever genuine reason I don't know).

Our car had it when we bought it, then lost it after the first oil change when they reset the computer. Now it has it again...

I think I read somewhere that by default it is now turned off, but that could be faulty memory...

The early cars including my 02 were mostly programmed to do the boot opening thing but it was pretty useless so most people had it reprogramed by the dealers foc to do comfort opening my 53 came with it as standard.

My dealer asked if I wanted it turned on before i picked up the car. It was off by default.

Comfort opening is on all cars (in theory), and can be activated / deactivated by the dealer. Putting the ignition key in the lock and turning it, closes the windows if they're already open.

Thank you everybody. I'll have to pop it into the dealer then. Probably get my OBC wired up first and do it in one hit.

Got the closure kit fitted that Mikey does (fitting guide coming soon) so wanted the comfort opening to go with it.

When I took my 52 plate MCS in they said it couldn't be done. They showed me a print out of all the options available to change and it definately wasnt listed

Hope that's not the case for my 52 plate MCS.

Currently holding down the unlock does feck all and twisting the key in the lock will only close the windows.

My 51 plate Cooper Works opens and shuts from the lock and holding down the remote pops the bootlid but you still have to use the button under the lid to get it to open all the way. An option that never worked properly and I think was quickly removed as being an option.

My 5 '02 build MCS came with the boot unlock feature. Thanks to this site I got the local MINI dealer to learn how to reprogram the for the Comfort Opening.
I've had the feature since 8 '02
