Love Them Or Hate Them?

Just out of curiosity
Do you hate Old minis?
Hate the old mini drivers?
Or love them?

I no quite a few MINI owners also own minis, and that quite a few also started with minis but when i drive past a mini drivers never smile of wave unlike MINI drivers.
I personally quite like the cars and think their decent classic cars.

I definately like old Minis.

The drivers I treat with caution, they can be really nice people, but there are too many bad apples.

Fortunately, the few that give the rest a bad name often, very considerately, post stickers warning others of their low IQ; "100% BMW Free" is usually an indication that they are amongst the neandertals

Many of the rest can be great. I don't usually wave first, but if they do they get a great reaction back, every time

Unfortunately, we need another poll option "Love old Minis, treat drivers with caution until proven friendly".

I own both now, always liked Minis ever since I saw The Italian Job, and saw my uncle's 1960s Cooper S.

Bought my mini when I was 15 and always wanted the new MINI when it came out, luckily managed to afford one of those too.

Both great cars, unique in different ways i think, but still both bring a great community along with them (owners clubs etc)

I love mini's and MINI's, have owned both, and still waiting to own another classic as well as my MINI

But I think that its a bit strong to say that you can hate someone just because they drive a certain car, you could maybe say that some of the owners drivers of classic mini's are small minded, and pathetic for their anti MINI behaviour, but not hate, you need to know more about someone than what car the drive to hate them

One of the things I like about the new MINI is that the owners generally are not like those few classic owners, there is more to life than hating someone because of the car they own/driver

I did the L2B yesterday and let a few minis in front of me and all of them had '100% BMW free' on them

I have owned two classic minis in the past. One was a mustard 850cc old K reg and then a red Mini City on a F plate. Great fun ... damp and rust was obviously a problem but now when I see them out and about, I think now how did I fit a bale of hay in my Mini City plus two children? And there goes another story for another day!

I just sold my classic after buying the MCS. The difference in reaction at my first event was startling to say the least. Most people recognized my old car there (new owner took it) when they realised I was in the MCS some stopped speaking to me!

On the whole most people are ok, but, as said above, some people are total idiots.


I must admit, prior to owning an mcs I too was slightly anti BMW, then I just grew up, maybe more need to as I did.


The classic mini has so much character anyone that has driven one remembers it, it caused a huge movement which is still growing today....I feel proud to say I have owned one, and am proud to own the next generation.
I don`t really know what it is with MINIs in general, they just get into your blood somehow.

I am lucky enough to own a BMC mk1 Cooper S and a BMW MCS, love em both as much for different reasons but in the end they both give you a grin to drive, but I feel a fraud arriving at an event in the MSC! So I look at it they are the frauds in their Rover minis cause BMC & BMW have only 1 letter difference!
