Has anyone else had problems with the dealer only half-fixing problems?

Hi,
I bought my MINI One in August 2005, after Christmas I had a water leak and it was taken to the dealer to be fixed. I was told the water was coming in through somewhere in the front of the car so the seals were replaced and this seems to be fine now.

However in March 06 I noticed condensation in the rear tail light, and booked my car in to be fixed at the dealer over easter. I was told that the leak had been traced and the seals replaced and that the car had been tested and no water was getting in. It was 2 days later that the condensation came back and water was trickling down inside of the compartment where the wires to the tail light are enclosed, and there was condensation on the top brake light. So I had to book my car in again.

I went to pick my car up on Saturday, and it seems they actually did trace the leak this time as coming from the rear window. I was told that the third brake light had been dried out, but I checked before I left the dealers and there was still condensation inside it, so they obviously hadn't dried it. The man at the dealer told me to leave it for a few days and it should dry out with the heat of the brake light, but it didnt.

I have now had to book my car in for the third time in a month and it seems if they had have tested the car properly when it was in during Easter, I wouldn't be having all this trouble. Just wondering if something like this has happened to anyone else and what they did? I did write BMW a strongly worded letter, is there anything else I can do? Its a bit frustrating!

Thanks
Claire

The clip on the S Side skirt on my MCSC snapped and I took it into my dealer to get replaced. The dealership claimed that they had replaced the clip when all they did was glue the skirt back on. After 2 days the skirt fell back off and this time scratched the paint work. I had to stop at another dealer and they put brown packing tape over the skirt to hold it in place. This time, they are having to replace the entire skirt as well as repaint the entire panel because the brown packing tape leeches the paint out.

But I still love my Mini

My engine mount let go and hosed the engine bay with fluid which is now burnt onto any surface it landed on. I specifically asked them to clean it up when they replaced the part under warranty - which they didn't.

"oh...I thought you wanted us to just 'clean' your engine bay...."

FFS! You have to be kidding....

On top of that....the service manager then gave me a business card of where I could take it to get cleaned up!!!! I THINK NOT! It's going back in tomorrow....
