Strange Behaviour?

Whilst driving home on the A47 this afternoon, I had a rather strange experience. Whilst over taking some guy I noticed that he reached up onto his dash by his steering wheel and was adjusting a digital camera. When I had pulled in front of him, I saw two flashes go off.

I made a gesture of raising my arm in the air, as if to say what the heck are you doing and slowed down hoping that he would then have to overtake me. (I was only doing around 65 when I originally over took him). However, he also slowed down and started to leave a bigger gap between me and him, and then after about a mile, turned off at the next junction.

It was just really strange behaviour and unnerved me a bit I must admit. Why would somebody be taking pictures like that?! It was a shame I was driving alone and didn't get a chance to make a mental note of his make of car and reg.

Has this happened to anybody else? I'm probably just a bit overly paranoid and maybe he was just a secret MINI fancier or something.

Sorry for the waffling long post!

I agree this is rather odd behaviour!

To be honest, I wouldn't worry. Look at it this way, you clearly didn't do anything wrong at all by the sounds of it, so there is no reason for him to take the picture for that purpose. Besides, even if you had, how would he ever be able to explain to the police that he had taken these photographs while driving at 50+mph?! I'd love to see what happened if he tried that!!

The guy seems a bit odd to be honest, the two flashes seem to imply something along the lines of trying to convince you it was a speed camera. My guess is this is what he was doing, then he noticed you had clocked him, and he tried to skulk away as quietly as possible!

Or, he may have really liked your car and is off to order one exactly the same in the morning!!

I was travelling over the Dartford Bridge a couple of weeks ago and the people in the car in front decided to take a picture of me....didn't know whether to wave or not. Kinda freaked me out at the time....odd thing to do I thought. Folllowed them down to the tolls but soon left them standing....

man thats the government keeping tracks on you theres a few steps you should take:
1. Grow a beard
2. Make a hat out of tin foil
3. Hide in a cupboard until they lose interest in you

Good thinking. But do you think a girl sporting a fully fledged beard would stick out even more?!

I have come to the conclusion that the weird guy taking the photos yesterday was either a sad old bugger or a pervy MINI fancier And who could blame him for the latter

Not wanting to worry anyone but are there not a few counties where they are running trials where civilians perform basic traffic duties? Basically mobile speed traps, but also looking out for bad/dangerous driving......... Meant to be cheaper than fixed cameras and they think they are more effective against bad driving - which the fixed sites cannot deal with.

Surely taking photos whilst trying to control a car would be more dangerous though??

Raggamuffins thread sounded like it was a fixed camera on the dashboard.
If its fixed its probably as dangerous as turning your fogs on.......

No, It wasn't fixed to the dash. I saw him raise his hand up from his lap, he was holding the camera. Sorry for the confusion.

I just think it was some stupid idiot trying to fool people. I reported it anyway, in case anybody else had noticed the strange behaviour. I doubt his picture would show up much anyway, he probably got a lot of glare off the flash on his windscreen. Twit.

They were either taking it to remember to post on Spotted forum, or are going to hijack your number plate for robbing fuel or something !!
