England R50 Prototype

Hello my name Is Terry Stevens
I am a mechanical design engineer previously of BMW/Rover/Landrover(contractor)
Amongst other projects i worked on the prototype R50 with R25's as donor vehicles in the flight shed at longbridge for a couple of years as well as test work and modifications at the Gaydon site.Sinse the BMW pull out i have had no contact with like minded experienced engineers and it would be nice to make contact.
My email address is ste05114503@northamptoncollege.ac.uk
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
(I am currently trying to get back to Gaydon through Ford with little success, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.)

Hi Terry,
As Ford are about to offload Jaguar and possibly Land Rover as well, I'm not sure Gaydon will be looking for people at the moment. In fact the whole Ford PAG looks as if its under threat of a sell off. I wish you luck though, thought about changing your outlook and trying something out of automotive ?

I thought most of them are adult replies

Friendsreuntied has a work section, and you are bound to find ex-colleagues on there more than on a MINI site.

I work for a Pram Company, and we are looking for an Engineering Designer at present, so again serious.

Although TBH I don't think one that throws his toys out of prams so easy would be the right man for the job

Who, if anyone, is buying anything in the automotive industry (well, apart from the Chinese, but even they don't seem to be in the market for buying anything other than bankrupt companies for next to nothing).

Tigger.

Been some media speculation, but as usual, opinion is divided - BBC Breakfast report said decisions could be made while Gaydon is on summer shutdown, but then the industry "expert" they brought in to comment said that he felt it was wrong time - wait until new XK (which can't be made fast enough to keep up with demand, apparently) had a chance to see if sales could be improved.

sadly the Ford Motor Company has to re focus its business and although the PAG group badged cars do make a fair profit on each car sold, the numbers sold don't support the investment involved. So it looks very much like articles such as this will become daily fare.

a real shame to see that this could be happening, its almost as if they need someone to come in and do what BMW did for MINI.

That's really sad. It is miss management imo. They ditched cars such as the F Type in favour of a diesel X type.

the germans should buy Jaguar and Land rover, since they own all the great British car manufactures, such as Mini, Rolls and Bentley

Bentley is VW, not BMW.

Edit - I thought you said BMW, not "the Germans".
