Only 24% work though

i back the ones in built up areas though, too many ********s driving way over 30.
and you cant argue with red light cameras either.

if you get caught youve only yourself to blame, just my view anyway.

I agree with ones in accident black spots.

There are 2 (for each direction) near me on a 40mph stretch of the A6 next to an accident black spot junction. Its had a bit of an effect, but personally think the Cameras could of been better placed (i.e. either side of the junction but both are on the same side).

Otherwise agree with other peoples comments.

So whats going on with this speed limit review for the Motorways? I heard on news that MP's want to reduce the speed from 70mph to a slower speed. Anyone have any views on this or can confirm this?

they are DEFINATELY staying the same, they say that they would become ignored and disrespected. 30 is staying 30 single carriage way staying at 60 and dual staying at 70.
i dont see how we can call for limits to be raised on motorways, the state of them is so crap it would just become dangerous.

they are only calling for rural limits to be changed, to variable limits rather that national speed limit everywhere so that tight 90 degree bend round the back wont come as a suprise if youve never been in the area. so you cant argue with that either.

As Wooly said, it's a review of limits in rural areas. Don't think they'll be any changes to motorways:

Near me we have a stretch of road that in a 6 mile stretch goes from 60 to 40 to 30 to 60 to 30 to 40 to 60 to 30!!! Police sit with their cameras along there because it's easy pickings as there are that many signs you can easily miss one!!

I think they would like to make a more standard speed limit through villages.
In Worcestershire all villages are 30 limit but not all counties do it so I'm told

I got caught on a stretch of road that had no signs to say it was a 30, nor was it a built up area. There is a field on one site and an embankment on another. Very easy pickings.

With a bit of luck (but I'm not holding my breath) this sort of thing will be resolved as a result of these forthcoming reviews.

The problem is, that there are always people nearby with their own agenda's banging their speed restriction drums.

Whoever said that Red Light cameras are fair enough must bear in mind the following.

Ignoring a red light to allow an emegency vehicle through is NOT a valid reason when caught by a red light camera. It is an absolute offence with no appeal or defence in law so you have been warned.

If that happened to me I'd risk the £1,000 and take it to court. I would never risk the life of someone over worrying whether the camera would get me.

and scarily, you would still be found guilty, I kid you not. ONLY emergency service vehicles can pass red lights, with no exceptions. I only know as I have a family member who tried to argue it......worst thing was the ambulance was still in shot when she got done!!!!

The ones that are currently annoying me are the ones that are placed on the straight, good line of site, ONLY PASSING POINT IN MILES!!!! I have been driving to Scotland and back a bit lately and the cameras on the A1 and 698 are a joke, there are about 25 between Newcastle and Edinburgh! (most covered with platic bags I might add)

Put more police on the roads, at least there is a level of common sense in some poliemans heads!
