Congrats on the win.

Other than the commentators comments I had not heard of any anti-MINI crap going on.
But then again the show was really quiet so the Luddites probably stood out more than usual.

Overall I thought the show had really gone downhill this year - attendance seemed really poor and the trade areas did not seem to be doing much business. Think the ticket prices probably put most people off.............

Well done! You may have noticed me admiring your car a couple of times. I was wearing an unusual hat... We were wondering if you were the only car in your class, but hey, it doesn't matter, a win's a win.

I got heckled and sworn at as I got into the campsite, what made it worse was I turned up way, way into the night, so I had to drive past the hundreds and hundreds of classics owners to park with my friends (coincidentally right near your car) and even if people didn't say anything, the looks I got!

I remember I got the same reactions when I took my twin point injection Mini to shows and runs when it came out. I see they are perfectly accepted now though now they have a new car to throw their hate at. This was the exact reason I have not attended any Mini events in 5 years.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Well Done on the win, we spotted your car too!

It's a shame that the minority non-MINI lovers stuck out. We are both classic and new MINI owners too and it's a shame that with some of the shows further away we don't want to travel in the more comfortable MINI through fear of getting shouted at or the car being vandalised (as previously reported in some of the Mini mags in recent years).

The strange thing is that many of the people that used to hate them when they first came out now own one themselves! No that is called progress!!

We would also have to agree that the show was a tad poor this year and definately not value for money. A few of the traders said that their rates had gone through the roof too and that's why there were not so many there. Our car park by the helicoptor was really empty!

Hopefully we will be in concourse next year, not too sure whether it will be the classic or the Park Lane though??!!

Wink Mini in the Park Cost

First, glad to see that you won the concours with your DS MINI, I had a look whilst wandering around, in between trying not to tread in the sheep droppings!
I liked what you'd done with the car, very original!

I think that the show is very poor value for money, at £15 on the day it doesn't offer much at all.
The people showing their cars and the trade stands seem to be the accepted attractions.

I co-organised the Beaulieu Mini Cooper Register show this year, and would say that it was a better show, with more attractions (like access to the whole of Beaulieu Museum and grounds included in the price)
We had dedicated New MINI parking and a dedicated New MINI Club area.
We even had the Scrapheap Challenge Roadshow attend. (Our MCR team entered and won, even beating the official team! Watch it on TV, mid Dec Ch4)

Our show was just £10 on the day (until 12.30) or £8.50 in advance! Even Beaulieu only charged £14.50 for adults after 12.30!

With regards to the anti-New MINI people, it's a shame that they are stupid enough to have that attitude, fortunatley it's only a minority as a lot of them are now buying secondhand New MINI's as they don't rust like the classics!

Here's a thought for you..............

I wonder if they criticise all the Classic Mini owners who are putting 16v Honda and Vauxhall Engines into their cars?

Well done

Sad to hear these abusive anti-MINI morons (sorry but it's what I think of them) are still around however I think as others have said that they're now in a tiny minority and I'm glad to hear the organisers are thinking about dealing with them - it's high time these clowns were got rid of.

Park Lane with spots, aero kit and lots of shiny aftermarket bits & classic Cooper Mpi
