Re: who has this model of Mini?? Base Cooper with just... You might be better to just post the question...i'm sure someone here will be able to answer it! Even if they don't have the spec you mentioned Welcome to the site by the way

Ok, here's my question. I'm trying to upgrade my base, non-Suspension Plus Cooper, with the Sport Suspension plus option. But, I want to stay legal in Solo2 stock class with all the parts that I change. So, what the dealer has told me I need is the Vin# of a Mini which has no options except for the Sport Suspension Plus. That way he can look up the vin# and find out exactly the springs and sway bars that came on that exact model and figure out the correct part #'s to sell me. He says that's the only way to be sure in his eyes... So, anyone willing to share their vin with me just for a couple minutes? Thanks!

You can get the sport suspension plus option parts without that. Contact the guys at GrassrootsMotorsports. They are getting the parts for their project Mini from BMW. I also heard that there are different spring rates for different optioned cars. The sunroof cars get stiffer springs from what I've heard but the swaybars stay the same. I think the springs are color coded for rates but I don't have the color code info. The actual hot setup is to put on the rear bar and springs from the sport suspension and the front springs but leave the stock non-sport front swaybar in place. It's also extremely difficult to swap out that front bar anyway. You should be able to put down more power coming off of corners with less wheel spin. SCCA Solo2 racer

Careful now... If there are in fact different spring rates for sunroof/non-sunroof, you better have the corresponding rates for what you have. That would go in line with a package deal in that case, ESPECIALLY when talking about springs. Yeah, in some cases, it would be better to start with a non-SSP car and add the springs and rear bar. You give up a little transitional response, but might gain a little more traction. I originally thought I'd swap in a standard front bar, until I saw what was involved... - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion

So, no one has a vin I can borrow to check the parts out? I'd be glad to report back what I find out. I know there are 3 different spring rate sets at least. One for Sport, one for Plus, and one for sunroof optioned cars. I'm not sure if the sunroof optioned cars use the Plus springs with the regular sway bar setup; that could be a possibility. I'm eager to find out so I can get this car done and ready, so if anyone would be willing to help in this trek, please let me know.... Thanks!

That's going to be hard to find being that most people aren't just going to give out their VIN. My co-driver wasn't interested. I'm not sure I see the difficulty in requesting the parts catalog or getting the parts dept to look through for you. All you're looking for is SSP springs sans sunroof, and a rear bar. - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion

That's what I thought too. I just wasn't sure. I tried a couple different dealerships' parts depts and both of them said that having a Vin would be the way to go. At least the only was to be sure in a legality standpoint and getting the right part #'s for the right setup of Cooper. I've got a lead on another way to find out, so maybe this might not be needed after all. Thanks for your help..
