I don't want to be a naysayer, (and I love a good set of quality air horns) but I'm curious as to where everyone thinks there is room to install air horns on a MINI.

If you've discovered the location of the twin stock horns, you'll find no room at all for anything else there. The engine compartment seems like there might be room on each side until you realize that's where the headlight pods reside when the hood is closed.

I haven't looked from underneath yet, but I doubt there is sufficient space anywhere on a MINI for a compressor and twin or triple air horns.

Same horns all countries.

Except the South African version. When activated, these horns throw out flames also.

Only kidding!!

We have the technology, we can rebuild.

Snow creates a chemical imbalance in most peoples brains that makes them forget how to drive.

Is the horn the "disc" type, or is it the "seashell" curlique trumpet type?

Replacing horn

Has anyone tried replacing the horn on their Mini S? The original one sounds too much like my dad's old Buick.

Beep beep, toot toot.

I recall reading somewhere that all horns in the US have to be the same pitch, which is I think F#, hence fond memories of Dad's Buick every time you get on the "Gettouttadaway" button. One of the Mini2 sponsors has an aftermarket tooter for sale, or, if like me you are cheap and like to be annoying, you can get a compressed air boat horn for about five dollars.

Of course, it is hard to drive a manual transmission with your left arm out the window, providing that gratifing "FFRRRAAAAAAAAPPPP!" sound.

Good luck! Let us know what you come up with.

I don't want a horn that matches the car. I want a horn that cuts through the traffic noise and alerts the driver who's about to drift into my lane. I used my MINI horn for the first time today, and it worked. (Not real fond of those small thumb buttons, though.)

Question

So has anyone actually found a way to get a better horn installed?
