MINI Residuals / Value in 3 Yrs.

The Wall Street Journal just ran a story on car residuals (the value after 3 years). Obviously, we want our cars to hold their value. In the compact car segment MINI Cooper was rated the best. It shows a current value of $19,800 (asking price) and a projected value in 3 years of $12,078.

This does not take into account added options - merely the price of the base car. Looks great compared to some of the American cars referenced.

It's the same over here. "What Car?" magazine quote a retained value of 63-67% (model dependant) after 3yrs/36000 miles. Way better than many other cars.

Have just sold my 3 month old Cooper Chilli with 17', Manual A/C and Sunroof for £13,550 it was £15,000 new!

You have to remember is that used car pricing can massively vary in the price of the cars sale or part excahnge with that of the price a dealer may sell it for.

For Example: my dealer offered me something between £12,000 and £13,000 though similar specced cars on the the used car price list where going in the region of £14,500 so they would have made a nice profit on it even though they give some blab about having to spend £1000 on it before they can sell it!!! Hmmm pull the other one mate!

will be interesting to see the used prices in a few years though... I think they are going to hold there money well in comparison with other small/similar cars

This car is going to lose me my license one day. I LOVE IT!!!

Dark Silver/Black Cooper S Chilli Shiny Red Brake Calipers

The biggest grin on the planet & the envy of all my friends!

I dont think anyone can say for sure how much any new car will be worth in 3 years time - too many factors, the economy, demand, changes in perception, any or all of them could affect the MINIs residuals........
