R50, R52 and R53 - Whats the difference?

Hi all
Bit new to this Mini game...
Obviously, R50, R52 and R53 are the different BMW model codes for the older Minis, but what is the difference between the 3?
Cheers

They are BMWs internal codes for the cars like you get the E codes (E36?) used on various forums and car mags to describe the version of the M3s etc

R50 is ONE (90bhp), R52 is Cooper (115bhp) and R53 is the S (163-170bhp)

I believe the R51 is the designation for the ONE Desiel

The new model is the R56? Happy to be corrected though.

This is the most unprofessional bit of site management I have seen since I was banned from a certain other site...at least they had the excuse that they were enthusiasts who had strong views and not professionals paid to keep thier cool!

Nearly!

R50 is the One/Cooper Hardtops
R53 is the Cooper S Hardtop
R52 is the Convertible (all models)
R56 is the 2nd Generation (all models)
R55 is the forthcoming Traveller/Clubman

Rxx is a Rover project numbering code, interesting that BMW kept it for the R55/56
