Offline | They are so amazing, that really is one thing I want to see before i die! Are the photos 'un-touched'? The "moving stars and the milky way" photo looks so amazing that it looks computer generated! Very nice photos mate, where were you when you took them & do you see them often? |

Online | Great work, Lucas. I makes me regret missing them - I have seen them a number of times, but never in green. I guess it pays to look up once in a while! Beautiful pics... |

Offline | Thanks for the comments everyone I had a lot of fun watching the aurora too, it was actually the first time in my life seeing them!Camera, 4 year old Canon D60, heavy tripod with cable release. Settings, mostly ISO 800, 25-30 seconds, 12mm wide angle lens at f4.0. The one where you can see the Milky Way was ISO 800, 122 seconds, 17mm lens at f2.8. I tried using an off camera flash for some shots but I suck at lighting Everything was real, our eyes don't see color very well at night, but cameras don't have that problem as long as the exposure is long enough. That is part of the reason why the colors seems very vivid in the pictures. One thing a picture cannot describe is how smooth and ghostly the aurora is when it is moving around and changing continuously, truly an awesome sight! Offline | Lovely pix!. When I as a radio amateur (Ham radio) we used to bounce adio signals off the aurora curtain in order to reach far away places. Aurora never ceases to amaze me, especially when there is no sound to it! |

Offline | Nice photos We had a holiday in Iceland last October and saw an amazing aurora through our hotel room window in Reykjavik. This photo was taken with the camera propped up on some books on the window sill. We were surprised at the scale of it - it stretched from way behind us, over the mountains in the distance (sillouetted in the background of the picture) and beyond. Wish I had my tripod with me at the time ![]() |

Offline | wow, they look fantastic. I know from doing photoshoots of sunsets and stuff like that, that you have to have a lot of patience to get good shots like that. And it shows. ![]() |
