Service/Oil change reset tool

eBay.co.uk: New OBD 2 II SERVICE / OIL RESET TOOL BMW MINI ROVER 75 (item 160035275723 end time 30-Sep-06 14:39:43 BST)

Am I right in thinking that this tool will reset the information on the odometer about my servicing? I bought my 02 MC second hand and next service due is an oil change. Not got TLC as I never renewed it after the 50,000 miles was up, so I am looking at taking it to a very highly trusted garage for its oil change or even doing it myself. Is it likely that a garage will be able to reset the odometer theirselves or will it be left to me? Hence why I am wondering if this tool is worth it! Also, I dont know if it resets the brake fluid change information.

Hope somebody can help

They didn't use any tool when they changed mine. All done via the onboard computer.

HI, the resetting is done on the speedometer trip rest button by a series of pressing sequence. I think buying the Haynes code 4273 " MINI JUly 2001 to 2005 Owners Workshop Manual is a better choice as it tells you alot DIY stuff than just reseting the service interval.
Its in pg 1.7 to 1.8.
I did mine this way.
Good luck.

The Rover 75 service indicators can be reset by shorting one of the OBD pins to ground. I can't remember the details but I'll look them up if anyone wants them.

I would guess the MINI is the same, and that the tool on Ebay just does that. You can get the Rover 75 info on disk from Ebay for a few quid., and that has how to do it.
