tech advice and saftey

ok im a bit of a newbie on here but the one thing i have noticed is the ammount of tech advice give (some good some not so good shall we say) its all fair and well for people to spout what they belive to be right and so etc but it dose in no way mean they are right

i feel that in regard to this, all tech advice given should only be regarded as an opinion and not a statement of fact or truth for the simple reason that it fine if you do it your way and simply mess your car up but what if someone who isnt techniclay capable follows your work and messes their car up or worse hurts themselves or others

i know full well that a lot of people on here do know what there on about but when using other peoples advice do so with cation share experinces and knowlage but rember you could be wrong

take this thread for exapmle

and here as well

i just feel the point needs made befoure some dose something stupid, as i learnt this at my own cost lucky no real damge just a bit of wallet battering but if i had just gone to mini it would have cost me half as they had to put right in the end.

im in no way saying dont share youve veiws, do and do but just rember that their yours ! and by and large most of them are good info just take into consideration what your saying and what your reading

just my 2 pence

its all change for the S, to be revealed soon

Yeah totally agree. I'm by no means an expert but looking at those two threads, especially the jacking one, there are some dangerous recommendations there.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Have to agree! People are never always right and often feel like their helping but sometimes giving bad advise.

Its a case of Caveat Emptor, which from the Latin effectively means let the buyer beware, or you take it at your own risk. Even though advice or tips offered are effectively free, there is no way of knowing that they will work effectively or not cause some other problem. So you make a good point. TBH theres no such thing as a free lunch, you do as please and risk the consequences, and of course if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is just that.

Take this advice with pinch of salt though
