![]() The Muffin Man | Speed Limit Cuts Words fail me. Some of the people in charge of this country need shooting. Just read the link below. Personally I cant see this ludicrous scheme would ever come into force but still... if it did, god help us all.Speed limit cuts | Auto Express News | News | Auto Express |

Offline | Add this to the black boxes they want to install in our cars to track us and charge us for each mile... Would also have the function to fine us if we speed. I wonder if those signals can get out when I wrap the damn box in lead. I really hate our nanny/1984 state. Driver education is the key to safe roads. Only 5% of deaths are due to excessive speed. We need tougher tests and 3 fails you are never allowed on the road. Seriously, if you cant pass within 3 tests you really shouldnt be on the road. Re-testing would also be a good idea. With better drivers and less accidents we would also get cheaper insurance, in theory. Another thing is foreign drivers. I work with someone who lives over here and as long as she leaves the country each year for a couple of weeks she can drive on her licence here. Okay, the main drive behind the speed limits seem to be polution. Whats wrong with investing some of our road tax and fuel tax money into science to come up with cleaner alternatives sooner? |

| The Power Cube | This can't happen. 1) UK = very small input into global warming - try america and Japan first!! 2) The national transport would not agree to being forced to drop to 45 mph on a long haul journey. 3) This is just complete cods wollop. time for the baseball bats and balaclavas again !! ![]() ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

| 16 sleeps!! | I agree with some of your statements, except the 3 test one. My brother took 4 tests before he passed, yet he is not a bad driver. He just gets really nervous under pressure. He is unlike all his friends who are boy racers essentially and have numerous speeding fines and crashes between them. I don't want to make him out like a driving Miss Daisy either!! He just likes to drive and doesn't seem the need to be influenced by his mates. I agree that there are some people who shouldn't be on the road, but don't penalise people who get stressed under an exam situation. I do think that there should be stricter rules about the size engine or the number of passengers that young people have in their cars. My next door neighbour is a prime example, he is 18 and is on his 4th car which is a 1.8i Astra Coupe!!! He crashed his 1.0 litre car, his 1.2 litre car and has had a couple of scrapes in his 1.4 litre car, so I dread to think what he will be like driving a car like this when he is egged on by his mates!! He does manage to get up to the end of the road in 2nd gear doing about 40mph, past a school!!! I am scared about the black boxes and the inpact this could have on our rights. I agree that there is the possibility of fines via the information in the black box and just the fact that they will be able to track exactly where you go!! Anyway just some of my views! ![]() |

| Ashes and dust Maximus! | Because the government will do anything they can to impose restrictions. They see restrictions as the easiest way out of doing anything. "Oh is there a problem? We'll just legislate! ".I thought the most fuel efficient speed was 56 mph anyway? James |

| The Power Cube | Exactly ...and i was going to say, just unplug it, or... Oooops, spilt my bottle of water on it, again. I think we will NEVER reach a bigbrother situation like this - there are too many human rights at stake. If we do however, i'm emmigrating to Germany - Autobahn and Nurburg !!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe get my house now, before everybody follows suit. Cheers, CSW. ![]() Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing... |

Offline | Yeah and its really easy trying to read the smaller text which displays KPH on your speedo at these really easy speeds!! You would run more people over while trying to look at the speedo and maintain your speed at 43Kmph??? Cut emissions but increase RTA's!! |

Offline | Oh okay, I admit saying 3 passes and never being allowed on the road is a little harsh. I dont do well in exams myself. Actually, I plain suck at them even if I know the subject. I know a girl who failed 9 times. the tenth time she passed. She is a danger to herself, passengers and anyone near her. I know a couple of other people who were like that. I worked with two chefs who were both older than me. They had been driving for over a year each before I turned 17. They had been contantly failing their tests too. I passed before both of them. I had ot mop the floors every night for months. I dont know about anyone else, but if I am on a motorway or country road and I can only do 70kph in good conditions I will fall asleep. Nothing to keep my brain going and alert. I think 15mph around schools would be a great idea. Also, position a traffic warden outside each school in rotation to catch mum and her single child parked on the path in her BMW X5 blocking all the traffic. BAM! Instant ticket! |

Offline | stupid idiots, only someone who gets chauffered around or gets planes and trains everywhere, (on expenses out of our tax money...) would say that, make them commute from their constituency by car to London everyday then ask them if it's a good idea ![]() Pain Heals, Chicks Dig Scars, Glory Lasts Forever |

Offline | The article came back to haunt me today as i plodded along the M60 roadworks at 40mph how ridiculously slow I was going. What a dufus these are the same people who had the 5mph signs left up in ireland because you might as well do 5 kph even though unless you get out and push a car cant do 5kph. Bring all the rules on now then we can get on with the revolution. |
