Offline | Best to wait for 2008? Very anxious to go out and buy the 07 here, but also know that it is generally best to wait for the first year to clear, on a new model. This would allow the manufacturer to work out any kinks, etc. Just wanted to gather some of your thoughts on this. I'd be interested to hear your feedback. |

Offline | I bought the MINI in it's first year of production and regreted it! That many faults MINI took it back after 7 months and built me a new one!! Mind you, that was the first ever MINI production run and they have had some practice now! If it was me I'd wait. |

Offline | I'ev always waited a couple of years after the introduction of a new model on all my BMWs (5 so far) and always been glad I did so. E.G. I bought the last of the Seris 3 cabrios in late 1999, the last of the Z3s on 2002 and now my latest BMW is the MINI Cabrio in April. So far it has paid off with no problems on any of my cars, (apart fron leaking door seals on my MINI, fixed in a couple of hours!) |

Offline | I'm waiting for an 08 or maybe even and 09 before i get a new one. Will be getting a JCW Cooper S so i wanna make sure most if not all faults have been rectified by then. If there are any in the first place. Too often i have made the mistake of buying the first run of something. I've already had 2 faulty xbox 360's. Faulty PS2 and iPods when they came out, so there's no way i'm taking that risk with a £18,000 car ![]() |

Offline | I feel the same that you do. One thing i've learned too is don't buy cars which models are expected to be replaced by a new one in the shortcome. E.G., i bought 4 years ago a VW Golf 1.9 Tdi (100bhp) and the new model came out less than 6 months later i guess. Even my girlfriend's car, a Citroen C2 as more features than mine. |

Offline | Hopefully there won't be as many issues this time round as the car is somewhat of a progression from the first model rather than a ground up design. That said, it is a whole new engine, and probably associated electrical system, suspension, body panels.... |

Offline | Abi's 2002 MINI One has been really bad for faults (bits falling off, a new gearbox and clutch required, lots of minor niggles), my 2002 Cooper was bought back by the dealer after braking down, my 2003 Cooper S was rejected and replaced due to steering problems they couldn't fix... So to an extent it's (bad) luck of the draw I'd say! There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

| 05 MCS BEP | If you are willing to excercise your warranty, then there is no real reason to wait if absolutely need to get a car soon. My previous "commuter" car was bought 3 months before announcement that it would even be officially produced. Though it took the first year or two to sort out all the issues, the car has been the epitome of reliability since. I still have it and it's 23 years old. It runs but it's not my daily driver anymore. My MCS is : ) MINI has been very good here. If my car is in the shop even for routine maintenance, they give me replacement car (another MINI) to drive. So probably it isn't a huge deal to get a first year car unless you live 50 miles away. The one thing I do regret (getting an early "facelifted" MCS), some features that were scheduled to be in the 05 model were not installed in mine as my car was an early build. But hindsight tells me that I didn't go into buying a MINI for those features in the first place. Good luck on your decision....and patience to wait.... 05MCS BEP - Alta 22mm rear anti-swaybar, Madness CAI, (15% pulley soon to be installed) |
