Offline | Does anyone have any ideas about the sound system in the car. Lets face it, they have never been a strong point on the Mini, and 90% of owners replace them . Looking at the new design, I wonder if replacement is an option anymore....? I love the idea of not making it look to different, after all if it aint broke......Depreciation could also affect older models if the new shape was to far away from the old. ![]() J9N BE |

Offline | Not much I can add really that hasn't already been said but Marcus was a very engaging fella and it was great to see someone totally loving their job. The day was fabulous and I for one didn't really have any idea about how the Mini was designed. Marcus was very eager to tell us all that only Rolls Royce and Jaguar have as much chrome as a Mini The design process is a very long and drawn out one, mostly drawn by hand and then models were built from clay and then sprayed, you would never know the difference. Marcus also told us that the new styling was to make the Mini look more masculine....I meant to ask him why! It would seem that the chances of 2 exactly the same Minis being produced in the same year are highly unlikely as there are so many options to choose from. Fascinating stuff! Had I not recently traded in and got my Park Lane I would most certainly be off to my dealers and be placing an order. Nightfire red was a very beautiful colour and one I could have been more than tempted with. The sparkling silver was very nice and the photos here do it no justice at all. I personally didn't particularly like the yellow. I hate to say this as it will show my age but it reminded me of the the old GPO vans....they used to be that deep yellow colour! Who knows the colour may grown on me though! Lunch was a complete delight! The little delicate bowls of sausage, mash and onions were yummy! The desserts were equally as good with more than one chocolate brownies finding their way into my belly ![]() |

| all good things....... | Astro Black is as it is now, a colour that is down to individual taste, have one on order and think we will keep that colour for now as the GF likes it, although me, I'd be choosing maybe a blue after yesterdays visit, but at least Astro black looks blue in certain light ![]() Food rule fanatic ![]() |

Offline | I've started posting my pics in another thread! Doh! I had such an amazing time yesterday and so did my two friends, one not a MINI fan but was dragged along for the day, and she was completely won over and left thinking what options and colours she'd have! MINI its contagious! Marcus was awe inspiring, especially as I'm a designer by trade, I wanted his job! Sadly I didn't get a chance to talk to him but his mood board presentation was brilliant and very funny. So interesting to know that MINI is the only car allowed to have so much chrome on. Didn't know that was so thought out. The clay 1 on 1 model sounded such an amazing prototyping tool. That aero kitted one in the photos looked so good and to think it was a clay shell. COOL! Shame I didn't win one of the original drawings so wanted one of those (Buttons will you take bids?) The new MINIs were fantastic. I had seen them at the Paris Motorshow but had to contend with the Paris public to see those so I felt far more relaxed viewing these babies. Missed deserts because I seeked back in to take more photos of the MINIs and to spend a little one on one time with them. I'm personally not keen on the Sparkling silver but liking the laser blue/white more and more. I liked the fact that we could play with all the toys like the sat nav and the new interior lights pack at our own leisure. The set up of the day was great, never been to Oxford on the tour before and enjoyed every bit of it including seeing the new Nightfire red/White and Lightning blue/black on USA Coopers on the final production line. Got very excited by the Nightfire red and have debated changing my ideas from the S to the Cooper so I can have it. Its a very exciting point for MINI and its great to be invited and considered for such a privilege! THANKS! |
