Angry Some "#@$er reversed into my MINI!!!!!

Ok i was just about to park at Bluewater, when this idiot in his work van, saw a space, didn't look behind him, and reversed into the front of my baby!!!
Lucky for him there was no damage, but i was very very angry, if there was damage then i really would have flipped out, as i have worked very hard to get my MINI, it is my pride and joy, i have just split up with my girlfriend after 4 years, so i have been very unhappy, but everytime, i go out for a drive in my MINI,i come back with a BIG smile on my face! And to have some moron do that to my car, made me very sad.
But anyway she is ok, but i thought i would give you guys a heads up, just to make sure this doesn't happen to you, just make sure you have your finger on the horn, and if they get to close to your car, give it a burst!!

Smiffy know's all about this...

It also reminds me of watching a lexus reverse into a very rare and expensive 1970's lamborghini in McDonalds car park. Ouch.

Dom - who just reversed into some monkey's mini in his van

A Friend had driven his Classic Mini to a local store to get a few things. When he came out this guy spent 15 minutes talking with hmi about his Mini. The guy then proceeds to walk across the parking lot, gets into his van, and backs right into the Mini. He gets out of the van and then says "I didn't see you".

What can you say about stupid people like this.

Sold the Cooper. Now driving the Traveller. I mean Clubman.

Stupid People Tricks

About 4 years ago I decided that I wanted an 87-93 V8 Mustang Sedan (the body style favored by most 3rd generation Mustang enthusiasts). I looked for 5 or 6 months and looked at cars from Pennsylvania and Maryland clear to south Florida. I finally bought a beautiful, cherry, 2nd owner car that was imaculate and unmolested. It still had the factory stereo. The second week I had it I took it to a Goodyear Dealership to have it re-shod with the original 225VR60-16's and stayed and watched while it was done. The young man installing my tires did a truly excellant job snugging them down with an impact but then having to actually having to put a couple of more turns on with the torque wrench to get them tight. At this point I was really impressed usually they are overtorqued with the impact and the torque wrench (if used at all) is thrown on the lugs as an afterthought and "pops" immediately because whatever it is set to has already been exceeded. When the young man finished he parked my car in front of the door (not in a space. . .uh oh) and came into the service desk and put my keys on the counter and picked up the keys for the next car he was going to work on. I was just telling the manager how impressed I was with the level of proficiency the displayed when we heard the crash. The mechanic had went outside and jumped in a van and backed into my Mustang. When I got outside he looks at me and says "I'm sorry, I didn't see it" I said "SEE IT? What do you mean see it? You f***ing parked it there, You shouldn't have had to see it!" So I truly understand your frustration.

Semper Fi,
Kevin Winters

You should get your dealer to confirm that their is no damage... there could well not be any visible, but damage underneath.

If it was me, I would have taken all the drivers details anyway and not been happy until given the all clear by the dealer.

I say this because a friend fell into this trap...

Lightbody, i got the guys number and name, and while i was trying to talk to him, and not hit him! my mates had taken the number on the side of the work van, and my bro toook the reg number, so if there is any damage, i will go and give him a little visit where he works, and make sure i takes my mates and bro who saw the whole thing.
But in saying that touch wood(not that wood!), my car seems better then before!! how weird is that|
She has got to goin for a service as it is, so i think i will get that done this week now!

The horn doesn't always work!

Smellmypat,
Sorry to hear of your mishap but i have to add that the horn idea doesn't always work.
Last christmas i was driving my other halfs pride and joy here classic black and white cooper called "felix", she really loves her car. I drove into the car park, stopped at a junction to let someone else go through a narrow gap, when suddenly the peugeot 306 in the parking space i had stopped behind put on her reversing lights and came straight out of the space into the side of "felix", i had my hand on the horn all the time right upto the imact on the passenger door and "A" panel. Thing is my otherhalf whose car it was was sitting in the passenger seat at the time, again the woman said she didn't see us, and off to the body shop went "felix"

I got reversed into in a car park earlier this year in my classic Mini.

I was behind a guy (about 10 yards or so) and he was about twice that away from a van in front of him.

The van moved back literally a couple of feet, and this doddery old fool reversed back.... and back.... I could see him in his mirrors and he wasn't looking at all.

I had a car right up behind me, so no escape!

I hit the horn, and held it, and held it, and BAM! straight into the front of my Mini!

Again, no damage to the Mini, but he also said he didn't see (OR hear) me!!

And these doddery old folk get cheaper insurance because they're safer!?!

(please note, not all 'old folk' fit the stupid doddery description as above, but some do, and the one who reversed into my mini certianly does).

Same deal someone backed out onto the hood of my car a few years back. Has anybody out there tried to modify the park distance thingy so that it goes off like a fog horn when someone ELSE gets to close?

No, but you could do that, twinned with some small machine guns where the headlight washers would be.
