I just came back from Hot August Nights in Reno. What a great car show, and guess what, my MINI was the only one I saw, and the only one alot of people have ever seen. Alot of people were asking about it and taking pictures, I don't remember how many times I had to give the whole history of the car, but it was a blast!!. On my way back home from the trip I reached the magic 1200 mile. Now it is time to have some fun.

Last week I went to a local Cruise Night to look at all the cool cars. When I drove up the organizing staff asked me to park in the display area.

My S seemed to draw the most crowds and I was answering questions for two hours. Mini should pay me

Ottawa Guy, I just had a look in your gallery and realized I saw you driving a couple weeks ago. A quick calendar check tells me it was July 13th - I was driving my MINI on St. Laurent near Walkley and had just turned on to a side street when I saw you go by. I don't really have a point... umm, nice car. I've only seen one other MINI in Ottawa and it was from out of town.

Usually I'm just a blur going by so lucky you saw me.

In Ottawa I've seen a silver and black (you?), yellow and black, another dark silver and white and a red and white. I don't think there are any bad colour choices. I'll have to remember your Canada flag trick for next Canada Day.

I was in Toronto a couple of weeks ago and I kept my eyes "Peeled" for any MINI sightings. During the whole trip I saw 2 MINIs, one in Toronto (Highway 401)and the other in Niagara by the Lake.

I also passed by Downtown MINI, the only MINI dealer listed for the Toronto metro area.

Overall very few MINIs around the greater Toronto area.

I went to the MINI Canada website to configure a Cooper exactly like mine and found out that if you want the 15" 8 spoke wheels and multifunction steering wheel, you are forced to pick the "Premium Package" (in the US these options are sold separately and the PP is not required). The only things you Canucks get over us Yankees, is the standard traction control accross the board and Silver Gray leatherette/cloth which is not available in the US either.

I liked Toronto, nice city overall. A cleaner and safer version of New York City.

Nice to hear those wondeful comments! (Mississauga is a large suburb of T.O.) You're right. There are quite a few MINI's up here. However, I'm assuming many of them are in the suburbs (like me!) At least those few people that I have met have all been outside of the downtown core.

However, I did a BMW 'cruize' last weekend - 200 BMW's and 3 MINI's. Maybe people are just hiding them - couldn't imagine why.

The dealer still says my MINI should show up on the 21st of August. If that holds true I will have it for the August 28th cruise night.

As soon as I get the call from the dealer telling me it has arrived I will let everyone know.

How long did it take from the time your car arrived to the time you picked it up?

It took a week because so many cars came in at once and it was over the July 1st weekend.

We do have alot of good motoring roads around here in Santa Cruz County.
The first weekend I had the Mini I took the it down the coast on Hwy 1 to the Big Sur area. When the traffic got too heavy, I would just pull over and wait a bit, that hit the curves again. Tobes, we also have a Loch Lomond here in Ben Lomond, Ca. It's is a great fishing spot. Going to my first meet & greet this Saturday in San Francisco we are going to drive down Lombard St than get together for a little motoring on the coast.

They parked mine in the middle of the lot so you couldn't see it from the road.

My Cooper S is Yellow with black roof. I ordered it with the sunroof and the multi functional steering wheel.

I think it is the first Yellow S in Ottawa.

Tony and Matthew are you guys going to be around next Wednesday night? Maybe we can finally get together out at Orleans.

Yellow and black When I went in to order my S I had my mind made up about Dark Silver. Then I saw a yellow/black Cooper and wanted to order my S in those colours but was told I would have to wait until September - and I wanted it for the summer. Anywho, I like what I have now

Next Wednesday at the Cruise Night in Orleans sounds good.

Congratulations on finally getting your car Al. Cruise night sounds fun. What are the details (when, where, what happens, etc)? I guess I'll actually have to wash my car....












It's really not that dirty, I've just been a little lazy lately because of the heat!

Cruise night is every Wednesday night at Place D'Orleans shopping center. Originally it started out as an old car gathering but now everyone goes including Motorcycles,Imports,Rods and Muscle cars. I was told 700+ cars showed up last week.

This is basically a show and shine. You park your car and then walk around and look at all the other cars.

People show up usually after 5:30 PM and it usually wraps up when it starts getting dark.

I am not sure what time I will be getting there. I will have to let you guys know in the next couple of days. I would like to get there fairly early so as to get a spot.
