But it's not a problem (as I've driven UK spec cars abroad), as they speedo display on the rev counter can easily be switched to km/h.

I actually much prefer the new console in terms of it's shape, and the materials of the "side posts", but the controls/face panel let it down.

No doubt it'll grow on us. I never like something straight off these days.

I'm now even more convinced that there is no benefit to be had in changing my wife's 'Westie' (a Cooper) or elder daughter's 'Ellie' (a One) for the new model. What does it really offer that we don't have already? Change for the sake of change methinks! No need to change what's not broken! Or am I alone in thinking this?

The new engine is a major attraction for me. Better economy, cheaper road tax and more powerful.

Unless you have spare cash and maybe a Fisrt Generation mini, I agree why change.
The fuel economy is one major pull though. Look forward to the Traveller though. May have to change to one of those as children will force a more practical car chioce than a MCS checkmate!

Whats peoples opionon on the Standard S read bumper, I think its horrid with way too much black plastic grill. (Cheaper to make maybe!) The Aero Kit bumper is the only way to go on the S

Wink

OK, after having seen the new Mini up at the dealership this weekend, and there were lots of interested parties viewing.........i have given much thought and deliberation and i have to say that the R53, old shape is my fav.

I have no real technical reasons, i guesss i am not sure about a Turbo engine, worried about the teething troubles (i had cooper s when 1st came out and sooo much trouble with it...) so maybe when it has been out a while i will think differently.

I am not a fan of indicators in the light cluster, nor the black grill, colour coded surely is the way to go these days???? I like the old interior although this MOOD lighting is a winner...I wonder why not so much chrome, is that old hat now ??? I still love the chrome line inside and the new interior chrome line is not so noticable.....and not so easy to fit after market ones esp around the dsc, window buttons.......

Also, the works kit is not out yet, so any Cooper S owners have to wait, also there is no sound kit available for the Cooper yet and no prices either......................

So will they bring out all the models in this new mini, Checkmate , park Lane, etc ????

Colours are good, but whats wrong wirh Hyper Blue ????? Also do you think its about time a colour can be JUST for the Cooper S ????? and not for all models (after having electric blue S with assurances it wouldnt ever go on Cooper..and it did) - not being snobby just an observation...

However my dealer Chandlers in Hailsham, had a Works kitted S in the bright blue and the body kit was amazing...................all in i hope this new model wont devalue the old style....having an 06, i worry it wont sell ????

Ok, thats my penny for what its worth.

Topsy

Must admit I don't like the rear aero bumper where as I think the standard bumper is spot on
