MINI Cooper for a week to review, any questions?

Hello,

Since Yesterday (well, late Thursday 30th), I have a MINI Cooper for review for a week. So if you have any questions or comments please post them up and I'll do my best to answer them while I have the car.

I wont be doing a full daily "blog" as I did with the S last week, but I am taking a daily account for a full report.

First set of photographs (before it gets filthy!) are here: Pure Silver 2nd Generation MINI Cooper

Specs are:

OTR Price: £12,995
Total price of this vehicle: £14,305

Options: Pepper Pack (£940):

Chrome line exterior
Front fog lights
Interior lights pack
Leather steering wheel
Manual air conditioning
Passenger seat height adjustment
On-board computer
Velour floor mats

Colour line - Dark Grey (£90)
Metallic paint (£280).

Any questions, please feel free to ask, get them early for more chance of a complete reply!

I'd like to see you try and make the carpet inner wheel arches get as wet as possible, and see how long it takes for them to fall off or how they stand up to lots of dampness

Its only a forum you know!

They appear to be standard seats with Carbon Black Cosmos Cloth upholstery ...

Paul,
You are driving the same car as me! Only difference is mine has black bonnet stripes. It will be interesting to see what you think of it.

Paul,

I am interested in knowing what you think about engine response, how it compares with the MCS and previous generation models you have driven.

I would also like to hear about gas mileage. You indicated that the MCS test vehicle you drove was on the low side of the estimates. I'd like to see if that holds true for the Cooper or whether it's surpassing the 40 miles per gallon mark -- I'd be happy with that on either the imperial or U.S. gallon scales.

So far so good, been tootling around town in it mostly so far (and it's already getting really grubby, curse the local roads!). MPG is not near 40mpg average, and that includes two treks up and down a dual carriageway when it normally improves MPG.

Whats it like for response through the gears when overtaking for example ?
Is there a point on the revs where it kicks in a bit?

I'm being tempted back to a MINI....

This may sound very silly but how do you get it into reverse?

reverse is the same as the Cooper S was/is. Neutral then left push and push again. Its tricky but its do-able! Just have to get used to it.

I'd love to hear your impressions on the ride quality and especially the noise level at say.. 75mph ish?

The only major complaint about my own cooper is the amount of road and engine noise at high speeds, plus the fact that gearing is quite low.

Unfortunately I've been ill, and spend most of my time looking after our 3 and a half year old, so it's delayed. I'll get it online ASAP.
