Have you met Quack Quack Jack? (Maxa and Ruthie Remembered)

SEE POST 16 BELOW

Paul - and everyone,

What do you think of the idea of having a small QQJ/Duckie logo permanently on the site header somewhere (Paul, do you remember you did that following Maxa's death for a while)? He has become an important symbol, not only for Maxa and Ruthie, but for a wide and large group of regular members here. Many runs and events organized through M2 by M2 communities all over the world feature Duckie - he reminds us of lost friends, and generates plenty of feel-good factor - and, to me anyway, he's become almost inseparable from M2 and MINIs. And I'm sure new members will wonder what it's doing here, and will hopefully ask and give us an opportunity to tell them about Maxa and Ruthie

It's an idea, anyway, and it would be good to get everyone's point of view I've set up a simple pole too

Great Idea! Maybe it could be a changing pic like the headers we have now (ie a different pic of QQJ each time the page is loaded). A little QQJ emoticon would be good too

Not likely to happen (in fact you can pretty much rule it out).

But you have given me an idea.

It's a lovely idea but we have 40,000 members and as much as Ruthie & Max were special to me there are others who we have lost too who we should also consider. It would not seem right IMO to make one persons passing more "special" than anothers. And as we continue to grow, and as , some of us, continue to age and pass away at what point do we stop

I understand what you're saying, Bob, but to my mind, QQJ has come to represent the whole community and its spirit as well as Maxa and Ruthie

I think Angelina makes a fair point........QQJ has been to more charity balls than most M2'ers, and I know many folk still carry a duck in their car permanently.

I wouldn't see QQJ as a tribute to Ed or Ruthie - I'd see QQJ as a mascot of international friendship.

What they said. Though the duck symbol started with Ed, it certainly didn't end with Ed, or Ruthie or any of the rest of us mortals.

I dare say a Yearly M2 virtual award for Best Thread, Community Spirit, Humour, etc - and called say something like "A Maxi" or "A Ruthie" would be out of the question ?

What's the difference? (I have changed the option to 'Yes'.)
