Newbie question - Mini tlc XL ?!?

Hiya, just discovered these forums while I was trying to find out whether it's worth spending the 300 quid on the Mini tlc XL package.

Anyway, I've got a 51 plate Mini Cooper which I bought about 6 months ago or so - she's done around 37000 miles and I've just had a letter from Mini saying my Mini tlc service package is about to run out but that I can extend the cover with the Mini tlc XL package.

Any thoughts on whether it's worth it or not? Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to MINI2!

If you intend to continue using MINI Service centres for your servicing, the TLC XL pack will save you around £300 in servcing costs.

Included in the cost, you get:
  • A further brake fluid service
  • Third service visit – oil service and micro-filter
  • Fourth service visit – oil service, micro-filter, vehicle check, spark plugs and air filter.

Yes it's worth it.

It was acceptable in the 80's

It's definitely worth it! I bought it a couple of months ago as I found out from MINI that Inspection II alone will cost £320 so you'll save lots of money! And if you don't use all the services before you sell the car, then the next owner can use them so it can increase the sale slightly (not that you'll want to sell your car!!!)

Angry

Back again......don't you hate it when work gets in the way of internet time?

Thanks for all the replies, the tlc XL package definitely sounds like a good idea. The next service is due in around 400 miles (which is a bit awkward at this time of year) so had better get off my backside and call Mini this week!

On slightly sadder note, someone scratched my Mini earlier this week - it's a bit of a scratch on the front drivers side wing. I don't think I've ever been so annoyed about something happening to a car I've owned before

DIY Tlc

Ive had my Mini 3 months ....its a One on an 03 plate....in all the bumph in the wallet was a TLC booklet all the things are torn out other than I think a break fluid change.

Are you saying I can go along to the stealers in Sheffield and purchase a TLC package even now?

If so whats it going to cost do you think and whats the benifits of getting it......sorry to sound thick, but I trust you guys more than that lot down the road.

Any info on what else I ought to do by being a new owner would be great.

Her she is anyway....did the lights myself but stumped up a ton at the dealers for the stripes

Thanks a lot.

You can buy tlc xl anytime after tlc has expired and before the next service is due.

It's worth it as mini services are not cheap.

look at mini.co.uk for details

From the pamphlet I was sent:

"Mini tlc XL is the extendable option to Mini tlc and offers you the same level of service and reassurance.

With Mini tlc XL you get a further 3 years or 30,000 miles of servicing for just £300.

Mini tlc XL covers you for the:
* Ist inspection II service at approximately 60,000 miles
* 3rd oil service at approximately 70,000 miles
* 2nd brake fluid change

Looks like you can arrange Mini tlc XL cover by contacting your local dealer, filling in an application form, calling on 0870 5050166 or e-mailing minitlcxl@mini.co.uk.

Hope this helps.....
