Offline | Motorway Rants I'm sure we've all got them Here's mine from today...So... the freezing fog is thick, visibility is worse than poor and everyone on the M40 heading west was pretty well behaved. All except for the bearded, white-van-man pirck who tried to run me off the road ![]() About 5 miles outside Oxford, going down the hill at Stokenchurch, the traffic was pretty solid in all three lanes but we were still managing to do about 70 in the outside lane, so really, there were no overtaking lanes, just 3 lanes of traffic, and I was in the outside lane, keeping a fair distance from the car in front. Out of nowhere, a white van pulls up right behind me and gets within a couple of feet of Hugo There was no space to pull into the middle lane, so I flashed the hazards to get him to back off. Nothing! So, I thought, ok, maybe he didn't see me, so I flashed the hazards again, so this time he gets closer and turns on his full beam I slowed down gently, hoping that would get him to back off, but no, he was having none of it Then, he finds a tiny little gab in the middle lane, pulls into it, undertakes me and as soon as he's in front, he slams on the breaks![]() I stopped with inches to spare and luckily everyone behind us was at a safe distance. So, being confronted with what was obviously a nutter, I edge away into the inside lane to get away from him What pizzed me off the most wasn't so much his confrontation with me but the fact he gave no thought whatsoever to everyone else on the road. He didn't think that his actions could have caused a terrible accident on a busy motorway in thick fog involving dozens of other people ![]() ![]() Home safe and sound now with a nice hot coffee. I just hope the stupid idiot doesn't hurt anyone on the road today ![]() |

Offline | Yes these dangerous drivers can be a little irritating and they seem worse at this time of year I had one yesterday, traffic was especially bad around town, but hey I don't mind too much, just leave home 20 minutes earlier and I enjoy oggling other peoples cars in the traffic jams . Anyways I was driving home and was nearly there when I noticed a very irate guy in a Silver Mondeo giving some poor person behind me in Rover 75 some grief by weaving and getting too close to him, didn't think too much about it. Came up to the roundabout and Rover peeled off and then Mr Mondeo came storming up behind me and virtually rear ending me. We went over the roundabout then it was first right onto my estate. Went to turn right being followed by Mr Mondeo and he tried to overtake me as I was turning into the junction. By this time I realised we have a complete t*t here. Driving round the estate ring road he was mm from my rear, so whats the best thing to do?? no way I was going to speed up or pull over, so probably not the best thing to have done but I slowed down to 15 mph and watched his reaction, well I think the guy was going to have a seizure, arms in the air, horn blaring, and then lights flashing, sight to behold, but worryingly this guy is going to cause and accident. Thankfully I turned off and he sped away. What got me he must have been nearly 60 and had what I assumed was his wife sitting next to him, looking rather glum, you would expect better from the more supposidly mature types perhaps they were having a Christmas tiff lol. Sometimes I wished I didn't own a car ![]() |
