Cloned REG Plate in Birmingham Area

Hello, I am looking for some information regarding my cloned registratiion on my Mini Cooper S.
My registration number is CO02ERS and I have so far received information that it is being driven around the Birmingham area on another Cooper S. Over the last twelve months I have received two speeding tickets, one parking ticket and it has now been involved in a car accident following which I have now received a letter regarding injuries etc. I have read on the forum a couple of possible sightings of it around the Birmingham and Loughborough area. Any information would be much apreciated and a photo would be even better. The police have been informed but so far have not been able to trace it.

Many thanks in advance for any information that anyone can give me.

Is it far away from where you live, if your getting speeding tickets it might be worth looking at the location to see where they are, if they are close by to each other then the person who is driving the cloned vehicle might live in the area, which could be a possible lead for the police tracing the vehicle. as for other agencies having information, if they are going off the number plate then they will just have your information.

when the police get information of a cloned vehicle then they should put an information marker on the vehicles registration, so every time it gets checked by a police officer then they will get the information that it is possibly a cloned vehicle and they should stop it and check the chassis number, and the driver details.

have you told the police that you have received the speeding tickets and parking tickets?

The swines!!!!! Can' t believe the cheek of some poeple! Will keep an eye out but don't think I can be much help as I am in Glasgow. Good luck with your search - I hope they get them and throw the book!

The police should have a picture of the car if the speeding tickets were from speed cameras.

They can probably afford it, but have lost their license and so are unable to legally drive. Put a fake plate on it, bish bash bosh.

Police run a random check on the plate, they find its taxed, insured, and the registered keeper has a valid license.

If the reg has been flagged, hopefully the b**tard will go past an ANPR van and the Police can go after him/her.

there could be a number of reasons for the car being cloned, the car is probably stolen!

I am not one of your bleeding heart touchy feely "inclusive" types, but agree that any race or culture generalisations are not proven and should therefore be toned down.

That said, the perpetrator cannot be that hard to trace for old bill and I consider that these are far greater crimes, than doing 78 past a 70 speed camera. Easy targets spring to mind............but then the majority of politicians, civil servants and old bill didn't do the joined up thinking o-level/GCSE.

Personal view - car ID, personal ID cloning, card skinning are all the ways of the skank (generic term for scruffy waste of space, not race or gender specific, but usually hoodie specific, possible affinity with smack head w**kers like Pete Doherty), I hate the f***ers and I would machine gun the lot of them.............

Good luck in getting your car's "name" cleared.

UNLESS YOU LIVE LIFE ON THE EDGE, YOU ARE TAKING UP TOO MUCH SPACE

There should definitely be severe punishment for this type of crime. If this cloned car was involved in a fatal road accident and left the scene, firstly Coopercars would have to clear their name. And the driver of the cloned car could never be caught.

If there isn't a strong enough deterrent, people will try and get away with it.

considering that these days that cloning is becomming a bigger problem , what more could the police possible do,
to trace the vehicle they would need a reg to go on and all you have is the cloned one,
the cloned reg would come back to the original owner because its cloned, so the police would then put a marker on the index so that everytime the vehicle is checked it would show up as cloned. it would also be put onto ANPR as well.

other than that the only other information you have is the speeding and parking fines. which would only have the location and the photo as useful information.

all the police can really do is wait for an officer to do a check on the index and find that the vehicle comes back as cloned.

the person who has done it must have thought about it as they have put the index onto a similar vehicle so it does not stand out.
it just goes to show that people can get information from anywhere, i'm sure that there are people who have posted pics of there cars with the index displayed giving cloners the chance to pick indexes of similar vehicles.

If the police converted all their speed vans to carry ANPR cameras instead, and build more of them, coupled with a small fleet of response cars maybe more of these cases could be resolved. I don't mind driving past a police camera when it's checking that all the cars have insurance, tax and MOT. If the cloned car goes past one of the cameras, the old bill can be off after it.

Back to subject a mate of mine had his Focus cloned of all cars and had no end of trouble with parking fines, the worst of it is the inconvienience of trying to prove that it wasn't yourself

Hope you get it sorted

They've been deleted now, apart from where they've been quoted by others, so hopefully we can move on and stop dwelling on one persons immature comments?

it depends on the force i think, all traffic cars have ANPR in thames valley and some of the fixed CCTV cameras round the towns have ANPR built in! the reason that all police cars don't have it is cost!!!

Your post that briefly appeared quoting me; I would like to point out that I did not make the original offensive comment, nor was I condoning it.

I was merely quoting the original comment and highlighting the fact that it was offensive, and perhaps an apology from the author should be forthcoming.

In North Wales we have mostly speed vans. With the occasional ANPR.

If you come to North Wales be careful... the SSSSpeed police hunt in packs!

Thumbs down

Not the first occasion ive heard of this, my dad had someone come to see his mercedes which was up for sale, some teenagers turned up in a new range rover, and were very suspicious, as the driver of the range rover was driving very erratically and stayed in the car whilst being viewed by the other person, this guy was taking our word that the car was immaculate which is very strange when buying such a car, luckily the mercedes was blocked in by my mini or else we're sure the car would be with us no longer, turned out the range rover was on fake plates after we did a HPI on the car!!. We gave the police their phone number and other bits of info, but ofcourse they wont do anything!!!

If any of them are mobile vans then they'll prob even have pics of the driver!

Mate who's actually a copper was in court the other month said the pics were clear as day of him driving whilst speeding past the camera!

These type of pics would prove your point!
