Factory Visit

How many people have been lucky enough to go on a Mini Factory visit and was it as good as it sounds?

It's better than it sounds...

I've been round on three tours now and I'll never tire of watching those HUGE robots welding up the frame of a MINI.

Sounds like i should get one organised. I might even be lucky enough to see my car being built.

Yes I went and Yes it was brilliant! I went for a VIp launch day along with a few MINI2 Friends! It was brilliant! More insight in to the life of a MINI and what it goes through to become! Plus you get to see some exciting things like when we went new colours of the R56s were on the production line! Very exciting! They were also building the clubman production lines!

Yes and Yes too

Highly recomend it if you want to understand the amount of work and effort that goes into our great cars

Like Laura I went to the R56 VIP day, so we saw it been built first, and then a talk about the changes and the new model.

But the time before that I went to the Factory Fun Day, which was just as the Convertible had started so got to see that too before it was on sale

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?

Yes, definitely!

Went to the one organised for the R56 VIP day. I'm not sure if the tour taken is any different from the others, but I would guess they are all the same. Anyway, it's an excellent tour, well worth it if you get the opportunity.

Yep I was lucky enough to go on the VIP launch day too and it was my first factory tour!

I highly recommend going along as it was really interesting!

Not been to the Mini factory, but I have been to Hams Hall which is BMW's 4 cylinder engine plant. That place is spotless.

If you went on the day of you car being finished at the factory could you pick it up there and then and therefore not have to pay the approx £300 delivery charge??

Propably not as they are registered at the dealers then need PDIs and stuff.

We have been twice, once with Miniworld Magazine a few years back and last year which I arranged. The tours were exactly the same, but again I could go week after week and not tire of the same tour!

We also went to the Paddy Hopkirk event which was held in the Info Centre at Cowley a few years back too. The Info centre itself is great and has loads of memorable cars, like the 3 Italian Job MINI's and Austin Powers.

Definately want to go on a tour this year to see the R56 being produced.
