| Working at MINI Chiswick | R56 tested - lots of milage, snow, ice and mess I have just got back from my trip to Les Houches (french ski resort) and thought i would share a my MINI experience with you all. Trip - Oxford to Les Houches Time - 9 hours driving Millage - 1000 miles Overall Millage - 2700 ish Problems - none Peeps - 3 (me,Gav and Mark) My new car was a joy to drive all the the way there and back, the trip down was 70% motorway and 30% twisty mountain roads. The car cruises along effortlessly on the motorways but as soon as I hit the twistie's my 2 passengers started maoning The trouble was that even with lots of luggage and 3 men in the car it still wanted to glue itself to the road around hairpin bends. With the sports button on I wanted to go faster and faster and have fun but all the luggage kept hitting my 2 mates so they weren't impressed but hey what can you do When we got there I parked her up and left her there all week apart from a visit for some photo's with (under) the snow. At the end of the week we went to de-snow and ice her only had a few normal problems like the doors not opening because mini windows drop as you open it but when they are frozen solid then they dont drop, which means and cant get in But once past those few problems it started fine (sounded rough) and deforted the windows in no time so we were all ready for the next days drive home. The drive home was all on toll roads which was very comfortable and very fast (legal limit ). It is very very easy to go fast in this car before you know it your doing 110mph without even relising it, luckily the brakes are good so you get back down to the speed limit just as quick So I had a great drive there and back and am loving my car It's a bit of a mess but nothing a hover and wash won't sort out. Oh and I also had fun sking btw ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Very jealous - thinking of doing a similar run later in the season in my Cooper ![]() Did you change to winter tyres? You obviously stayed on the crown spokes but did you wing it with the standard tyres? ![]() |

Offline | Nice one - looks like you had more snow than I did at Xmas in the Alps ![]() How was the fuel consumption on the trip - far better than the old model 'S' I presume? ![]() Park Lane with spots, aero kit and lots of shiny aftermarket bits & classic Cooper Mpi |

| Working at MINI Chiswick | I just went on normal tyres and I didn't have any snow chains either But it all went well as they look after the roads well with loads of grit and lot of scraping Fuel Consumption wasn't great, it was average of 30.1 on the way down and 35.3 on the way back. But it could be the way I drive ![]() ![]() |

| This space aint long enou | That is the funniest thing I've ever read on the whole site. Can just imagine the poor bugger in the back completely pist off being hurled around the cabin, praying for the next straight stretch of road. Bet you had a great time, not to sure about the others though (but who cares about them, hey) You don't buy a MINI if caring for passenger comfort is a priority. Love the finger in the ear pic too. Glad to see you, the guys and the car had a safe, reliable trip. |
