They all had covers on the roof and on the front of the bonnets. So they might have been different colours.

Sugar, we saw very few BRG's there, only one or two out of about 400 we saw ! as you can see most were blue, silver, red & yellow. We were quite glad since we've finally decided on BRG all over for our' S' and it didn't look like the world and his wife would have one, rather just me and my wife ! I know that BRG doesn't officially become available until September but signs are good that it will be 'unusual' at least for a few weeks ! Hope yours arrives soon ! Great choice of colour IMHO ! Ours should look like this ...

What part of it is German? The brakes? Built in Britain, American engine, multi-national design team. OK, the company is German, but when did you last describe a Ford Focus as American? The MINI is perceived as British, it is made (assembled!) in Britain, so it may as well be British!

Well actually most Americans think of the Focus as being American. It is built in the US and sold here in huge numbers by the American company that designed it. That pretty much makes it American to most customers over here. (Yes, I know it was designed and sold in the European market first).

American engine??? Well, not really. It's a joint design between BMW and DaimlerChrysler and it's built in Brazil by Tritec Motors.

But I get your point.

American engine - I did mean Brazilian, but then it was 1am, & my brain stopped working years ago! But Brazil is part of America, so I was technically, sort of, maybe right!

And the Ford Focus was probably a bad example,(for people in the USA!) so I'll explain my thinking! Most British people think of Ford's as British, even though it is an American company, building cars throughout the world. The same applies to Vaxhall (a subsidiary of General Motors, for those not familiar with the brand!). And a BMW Z3? German? But its built in the same plant (I think!) as the MINI's engine! The point I was trying to make (eventually!) is that the nationality of many cars these days is confused.

Sorry for the post he made. He is an ass, I can't stand him. The only vehicles he appreciates are lifted trucks. Plus, what do you expect from a 19-year old with no job and only a high-school education? Not much, just like what he posted.

Nor Me

We were only kidding with him, as for whether the MINI is German or American or British, who knows? I was just going on the fact that BMW who own MINI are a German company. I don't see any of the brands such as Ford or Vauxhall to be British really.

If you buy a Sony TV you might say it is Japanese but it may have been made in China or Malaysia (pure guess work here) or somewhere else.

I like to think of my future MINI as Made in the UK! but with a bit of BMW magic, and thats enough for me.

Personally, I'm not that fussed wat nationality the MINI is - I just love it! The fact that it keeps a few British workers in jobs is a nice bonus. I do get fed up, however, when people start make comments about the build quality being down to the fact that it is made in Britain - Honda, Nissan & Toyota certainly don't seem to suffer from similar problems! I'm convinced that 90% of quality problems are down to the design - make it simple to build, and it will be built well!

Parts Content Information
from the dealer!
U.S./Canadian Parts Content: 5%
Great Britain: 55%
Germany: 15%

FOR THIS VEHICLE:
Final Assembly Point: Oxford, Gr. Britain
Country of Origin:
Engine: Brazil
Transmission: Belgium

A car with British roots, 55% parts from this island, and a German designer, I'd say the MINI is a British car with a little extra technology and engineering.

oh, and on the topic...(why not?)...I like the spy shots, I wish I could just stop by and take a few shots of undelivered MINIs!! Too cool!
