Offline | Ive started flashing! For the pervs out there, CLEAN UP!! I was expecting other mini drivers to flash me and wave and it didnt happen (only had it for 5 days now so im just being impatient). So ive decided that im going to start doing it around here and see if other people pick it up and pass it on . So if anyone happens to be in Telford, Shropshire and spots a silver mini coop, be ready to wave back. Just wondering if everyone else waves to any mini or due to the fact theres so many does this put people off? |

Offline | When I ran Alfas I always flashed other 155 drivers, over 75% return. Then again you gotta be mad to put your hard earned into an Alfa, so therefore you're mad enough to flash and wave at complete strangers. When I get my MINI the madness will return. |

Mr Pope your not that far away anyway, plus it will be good to see your car in the flesh still waiting 4 mine, arrived at the dealers yesterday, just waiting on the dvla now to transfer my plate. Offline | I've had my MINI for nearly a month now, I flash and/or wave at other MINI's, mostly I get ignored but I come from Smart car ownership and its a requirement to wave. If you don't wave at Smarties while in a Smart, the smart police make you sell the car and buy an astra!! Horror. is there a MINI police to make sure that folks wave? If not, why not I regularly see the same MINI's on my way home from work and about 1/4 of the MINI owners wave back and I'm willing to bet that half of them just think that I'm a nutter and just wave in case they know me but are not sure MM |

Offline | Someone who bought a MINI back in '02, when they were still fairly uncommon, told me that flashing was almost 100% given/reciprocated when she first got her car. She said over the years it tailed off as the sheer number of MINIs on the road grew, to the point where she's given up flashing seeing as so few flashed back. With it being January, about 90% of my driving is in the dark, so it's often a bit late to confirm the car coming towards me is a MINI. I think my confidence will grow when it gets a bit lighter - especially if someone flashes me first. It's also interesting to see on other threads that some 1st Gen owners say they're having difficulty identifying R56s unless they get really close!! I'm on the Lanes run. I know there's quite a few who hang around here that live in Blackpool, St Annes and Preston - hope to meet you all. I've a Chilli Red/Black MC R56. Cheers |
