Offline | Park Lane (S) or 2007 Mini Cooper I can't decide if I should buy the last unit of Mini Cooper S Park Lane or wait for the new 2007 Mini Cooper S? I like the looks of the Park Lane but have read reviews that the 2007 Mini Cooper is a better drive. What do you think? |

Offline | I had the same dilemma and waited six months for the new new Mini and I'm glad i did. The engines a corker and can be very frugal too. On the limit handling is not as easy as the steering is not quite as informative but as the roads have been so greasy i haven't had a chance to get really used to it. |

Offline | Hard decision to make as you are looking to buy a new S then no question I would take the Park Lane but if it were the the new Cooper then I feel it doesn't look so much as a dogs dinner as the new S and doesn't look too bad. Personally I would buy a car because you like it not because you worry that it's the old model and will lose value more quickly. The actual reality is the old model is forecast to still retain it's value as most people see the new model as virtually the same as the old model so lessening the blow. I think you have to drive both models and see whether you prefer the slightly rawer edge of the old S or slightly better refinement of the new model. Also bear in mind potential niggles with the new model which seem to be coming out the woodwork now. Personally I think if you bought the Park Lane then your neighbours would never know the difference You can always buy the new S in a a couple of years once BMW have sorted the niggles out, in the meantime enjoy the supercharger ![]() |

Offline | I can only base my comments on the coopers rather than the S'. I have just traded my cooper park lane in for a new r56 cooper and found a massive difference all round to be honest. The power increase i don't realise that much, its the torque more than anything i think. My view would be to go for a new 07 cooper S - just wish i could have been able to afford one!! lol PW/B R56 Cooper is here!!! Lovin it, Lovin it, Lovin it!!!! |
