In reality I bet this system is a pretty cost effective way of doing things as space become limited in key locations of cities... looks like an awesome system.. I'd happily use it for the garantee of safety from thieves, possibility of a wash included in a price etc...

Some of the new apartment blocks in Liverpool have these I believe. Very cool and no more dents from careless chumps.

I think the car park itself would have to be a good size before the benefits were truly realised.

The equipment needed appears to take a fair amount of space up itself, and in return you're only saving space where the ramps between floors normally go plus the actual manuvering space in between the car parks.

HI,
They have these all over Japan - similar concept, slightly different design.
Superb idea and I'm sure they could be more space efficient that in the BBC video.

Take out the human space required in a car park and I'm sure you could increase capacity by an easy 50% not to mention energy savings on lighting, ventilation, CCTV etc.

Cheers, Geoff.

I saw this online at lunchtime. Very cool.

Surprised it only takes 1 minute 40 seconds to get your car back too.
