I want to take my wife for a tour of the Oxford plant. Where can I get information on assembly plant tours? I am going to be back in London again in July and want to make the trip to the plant.

I only managed to see half the tour - the paint shop/and installation of the interior/wheels etc was off limits!!

So I'll have to go again!

The Body shop part I did see was really interesting (albeit geeky), but despite having my chassis number, I didn't get to see my car. Maybe if I'd have seen the rest of the tour I might have come across it.

Terry, the tour guy, says it takes 24hrs from body-shop to roll off at the other end, so the chances of seeing your car on the line is pretty remote - He says he's only known 1 person actually see theirs being built.

(If you do go, go to either GATE 7 or 5, they go to the same place, and save you worrying too much about finding the correct entrance.)

I went on a tour at the Oxford plant just before Christmas, and it was great to see how our MINIs are made. Some of the robots and machines were unbelievable, MINIs look so simple to put together!
