Heated washer jets

Hi
i was wondering if anyone can help me. I took my cooper s checkmate for a service today and they informed me that the washer jets which i thought were heated were in fact not. I really need them to be and i was wondering if anyone had fitted this themselves or if and how it can be done?? MINI were no help at all and suggested i put a towel over the washers until morning!!!!!

THANKS

I've got heated washer jets as it came with the Visibility Pack... Not sure if you can get them retrofitted tho...

Surely the Heated Washer Jets came with the Heated Door Mirrors, separate to the Visibility Pack?

Most things (within reason) can be retro-fitted, but that doesn't mean it won't be expensive!

Speak to your dealer saz007 and get a price for fitting them.

I'd be interested in getting them retrofitted. Earlier this week, the wind chill must have affected them because after going along the motorway for a bit, they freezed up!!! When I returned to the car after work, they magically worked again!!!

Paul, do you know if it's just a simple case of fitting the new jets and plugging in the power lead somewhere? An easy job?

Cheers

I've no idea to be honest, best contact the dealer and ask the parts people, I assume they can get access to instructions pretty quickly for you if needs be. I cant see it would need any programming as they're "always on" items.

Supplying isn't usually the expensive parts, MINIs aren't too bad for that. Fitting is usually the painful part.

HI,
Sorry must must disagree.
One of my first Mini road trips was through the mountains around Grenoble last Xmas.
It was very interesting to pull into services that were covered in snow and had people left right and centre pouring hot water on their washer jets.

Temp was down to -15 and the Mini never suffered - of couse you need to also be using washer fluid with a very low freezing temp.
Vis' pack is IMO one of those options that should be standard, for the safety aspect alone.

Cheers, Geoff.

I've got the heated washer jets and they're pretty good, but I find they do take about 10 minutes to work when it's really icy!

Since the HWJ's are part of the heated mirror package, and they start defrosting when the HRW is switched on, it seems reasonable to assume that the HWJ's are activated when the HRW is switched on.

At least that's how they work on Mrs H's car.

I didn't now they changed that, as they used to be "always on" (the heated mirrors and washer jets"). Didn't used to have any relation to the heated rear screen. Are you certain that's how they work on yours?
