If you only bought it last week, and you chop it in now for a MCS, unless your dealership takes pity, you are gonna get hosed on the amount of cash you will lose (retail minus trade-in). The moment you drove away, you lost a decent chunk of change - this is just the way of life with used (or new) cars.

So my advice is to get some value out of the money you've already lost, and keep the MC for 6 months at least, and if you still really find it underpowered, then think about buying an MCS or something else entirely. Don't forget, MINI isn't just about outright speed - it's also about styling, handling and personality - and the Cooper has all of that.

Chopping it in after just a week would be the madness known as 'buyers remorse' don't do it !

Had a new from factory self specced cooper and drove it for 2 years...loved the thing. Had a prang and got the chance to upgrade to a secondhand S and have never regretted it. Uses more fuel but the power and noise make up for that

I ran a Cooper for nearly 3 years and loved every minute of it.

I'd been curious about the S over a lot of that time and, eventually, changed to an S all of a week ago. The S is great and I'm pleased I changed, but unless you need to act quickly under a 30 day / 1,000 mile exchange plan, I'd hang on to it for a while and have some fun with it (there's nothing wrong with a Cooper, they're great fun in their own right). Then, if you still feel the need for an S, I'd start looking in 6 month's or a year's time when you will have a much better idea of which is best for you.

I think an easy mistake to make is thinking that if the Cooper is great then an S must just be just the same, only better! The S is very different and has disadvantages as well as advantages; Alongside its huge power advantage and high levels and grip and great noises, it's more expensive to insure, fuel, tax and tyre. It is heavier to drive and has a harder ride. It took me a long time to work out that that was a compromise I was very happy with, but it isn't right for everyone.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Tigger.
