I didn't realise the Chips Away repairs weren't long lasting I would do them myself, it's not too hard and just needs a good modellers sable brush and little patience. If you have say the Pure Silver it will be virtually impossible to get a perfect result as any touch up will reflect the light differently. One tip with pure silver or any metallic silver is don't use any clear laquer on the painted chip as it darkens the paint and the chip stands out a mile. I'm not sure I would chance having a pure silver bonnet resprayed, I imagine a perfect paint match would be virtually impossible to achieve against the rest of the car. Luckily I've only ever had one tiny chip near the headlamp which persuaded me to get the clear bra fitted and been chip free upto now

It is ludicrous, and wish it could be done more locally in Warrington, I suppose tyour right about the age, I am just hoping thiough that as he is a longstanding driver he will of driven many of them before and won't be experimenting with mine!

If you were to contact MINI customer services they would probably desire that the supplying dealer fix the problem.

This is what the dealership have said as well, and as "they" have supplied the car it should be them that should put it right.

Im happy to hear that others are just as apprehensive about leaving cars at their dealers; I thought I may be going a bit mad.

Wish I had the time to go down and get it done etc, have always been funny about leaving my cars at garages, I just have to trust them I guess.

No No No-Thats horrible!

It was addressed to them, and it was provissionally agreed that the work would be done at my local dealership, wasn't until Monday they changed their minds
Toll road sounds appealing though

Well I previously requested for BMW Warrington to do it and was agreed, but they are now saying they have to do it.

P.S. You have bought another S, I don't know where you get your money from, you must be on a par with Aston for the amount of MINI's owned in 3 years ! Good man!

Cheers!
Yeah, maybe not as many as Aston but getting there!

My first post so here goes, I bought a cherished mini from Murketts in Huntingdon about 5 weeks ago and I've just noticed some stone chips which have rust behind them on the passenger door. Took it in to them today ready for a fight (I've been used to Nissan dealers) and they just agreed that it was wrong and they are going to flat them back and spray the door..result!! If you'd had a feather handy, you could have knocked me down with it.
They also resprayed the bonnet for me due to stonechips before I bought it.

Hope all my mini dealer exepriences are as good as this.

Sytners are being awkward, demand they sort it properly.

Cheers

Phil

Welcome Phil to the forums, cheers for the reply.
I have since noticed that they have actually sprayed the bottom corner of the bumper as it is a slight colour mis match-this is also going to be sorted by them whilst down there.

I am now going to escalate to MINI Customer services, see if they can help/offer advice, will keep posted.

Just a thought - I think there is a Sytners in Coventry, that must be about half the distance.
Maybe there is a Sytners even closer? I can't see taking it to another Sytners should be a problem.

Also, isn't the car at risk of suffering more stone chips on a 400 mile round trip?
I find driving on the UK motorway network similar to driving through a shooting range.

Just had a look on Yell.com, there is a Sytner in Sheffield!!!!!

Not sure if it's a mini or only bmw dealer, but that shouldn't matter. And there may be one in Leeds.

I can't get on the MINI - HOME to check it from work as the firewall blocks it.

Good idea, will be in the same group-willask them when I next speak to them.

MINI customer services are unable to help as it is a dispute between myself and franchised dealership and not a manufacturing defect!

There is a Sytner MINI in Sheffield!

I found this link:

Sytner Sheffield | Dealerships | Sytner Group

Click on MINI on the left for all the other dealerships.

If you take it over the A57 Snake Pass yourself you can have a really enjoyable blast and Sheffield isn't too bad for doing stuff if you have to wait around for a while.

I went through the hassle of taking my last car, an Approved Used BMW, back to York from Manchester a couple of times, so I made a day of it! Just remember to take your driving licence if they're giving you a courtesy car, I forgot mine on one occasion! In the end it was getting silly so I made them sort the issues at my local dealership, and that was a different group.

I had a similar problem with my Cherished Mini.. Mine had two scratches and a fair few stone chips... Thankfully my dealer got it all sorted out on site...

my mini1 only ever had one stone chip in 70,000 miles, and it wasn't too bad. the same stone chipped the windscreen too. despite high miles, and apalling dealer service, the bodywork was never an issue.

Yeah,

They drove the car down in the end, they gave me a brand new Cooper to drive aboutin, also this gave me a chance to see what the R56 models were like.
I also got £100 cheque, full valet, and fulltank of petrol.
The chips were fixed as they should of been in the first place, oh also got some black stripes supplied and fitted for free.

Not sure if I will go to Sytners againin High Wycombe, I think my dealership I will go to from now onwillbe Woodmans in Blackpool, also I was unaware that any cherished MINI can be sourced to your preferred dealership

That's useful to know. I'm thinking about getting a Cherished Mini and would like the option of buying from outside my area, but I don't want to have to drive it across the country if I have a problem like yours. So to be able to have it sent to the local dealers and buy iy there would be very handy. Presumably i could go and view and test drive it at the original dealerhsip?

I'm not sure about how other group networks work, but Sytner will transfer the car your intrested in from group stock to your local dealership.

Then you can look round it / test drive it at your local dealership.
