MINI Market Share

I found this today in a book given to a car sales person to educate them of there brands market position and the model soon to be released. (NOT A MINI SALES PERSON)

Surprised the Punto is so relatively well placed.

I guess the 206 is down because sales are split with itself and the 207 which replaced it .

My family has owned Fiestas and Polos and Micras (sorry guys!!), and I know the MINI is roughly the same size as as the rest in its so called 'class' but I just don't see it as really belonging in this class (if you see what I mean).

Thing is, even in base level, the MINI is a sporty car from the off. The others are low powered shopping trolleys at entry level, working their way up to compare to the sportines of the MINI. That is, the MINI is designed from the outset to be a 'hot hatch' whereas the others have to bolt bits on!

I just put it up to show it place in the sales ranking. Even if the cars are not in the same class you can see how they compare.

I don't class my S as an Hot Hatch, its a MINI (in a class of its own)

The dig (if there was a dig!) wasn't at you Dave, but at whoever compiled the info that went into the pie chart!

And I don't know how this can be reconciled with the stats above, but I thought I once heard somewhere that MINI had 2% of ALL car sales at one time. Can't remember source, time period, date etc, but I think it was round about the time of the Cabriolet launch. I seem to recall that 2% meant MINI had a bigger market share than Mitsubishi and Saab!!
