Question Advice needed

Hello
First time poster and not used to forums at all so please bear with me.
Im approaching 50 years young and have decided to treat myself with a new car.
Had a Mini 1000 back in 1984 which I absolutely loved but sadly had to part with it when kids came along. With two cars seats in the back and double buggy in the boot there was no room for groceries.
Anyway, kids have all grown and Im looking to buy a 2007 Cooper Automatic.
They are being released here in NZ on 15th March. Have test driven 2006 model and am in loved with the car.
Questions.
Do you think Im too old to be driving a Mini.??
To those who own one, how do you find it. ??
Anything I should be aware of.??
Does the basic automatic have enough 'pep' or should be looking at S Automatic
Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. I cant even decide on a colour let alone what extras or interior I would like.
Thank you.

Why are you worried about being too old for a Mini

I bought my first ever Mini for my 50 th Birthday - a GP

Now I am in my second element of youth really enjoying driving again - boys and their toys etc.

Go for it, you know you want to

Hi Dreamcar & welcome to MINI2,

I'm just a year behind you & drive an '03 Hartge powered MCS , you are never too young!

Similar situation with grown up kids & my car fulfills all my needs with no problem, even my 4 year old grandson loves his seat in the back.

Can't comment on the auto box but a Laser Blue MCS would be nice

Plenty of information buried in this forum to help you make you're mind up.

Good luck & happy 'speccing'

Hi DreamCar

Go on, go for it! If it helps, I'm 56 and I ordered my MC Auto a couple of weeks ago. My local dealer conjured up a demo R56 auto for an hour or so, and it drove beautifully. Also tried a manual MCS (auto not available to try), and that was a hoot to drive. However, I decided to go with the MCA as - for us and our available budget - that seemed a better balance of fuel consumption, performance and affordable goodie list. I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed either way though.

I too was brought up on minis - three 850s and four 1000s!

Good luck with the colour and spec choosing - all part of the fun.

Cheers
