Could this be the same council who built a new bus-stop on a route which was last used 2 months previous ???

None of these measures will do a lick of difference to the environment when the main polluters of the world refuse to participate.

Also Newtons third Law is never discussed or promoted in respect to global warming. "For every action there is a equal and oposite reaction" The warmer and milder the weather here in Canada, the less our heating and energy usage needs are, the longer the farming/growing season and the more vegitation (aka Carbon absorbers) grows in the vast northern hemisphere.

It will suck for the Polar bears though and all the Canadians that live in Igloo's

Why will it suck for the polar bears? Thousands of years ago Greenland was much warmer than it is now. Polar Bears adapt.

Did any of you watch the program about the CO2 CON during the week? This programme certainly highlighted the rubbish that is being spewed forth in the name of 'Saving The Planet' Don't believe the rubbish being reported by the BBC either. The IPCC, this group of 2500 scientists who agree on the cause of global warming doesn't just include scientists but also POLITICIANS. The main fallacy is CO2 causes temperature rises. NO temperature rises cause an increase in CO2 levels. What is the worst offender? Not even volcanos with 6 times the levels than that created by man. Try the worlds oceans.

Potholes.

Seriously, the roads around here are falling apart, worst I've ever known them to be. Now THAT spoils a good drive.

Completely agree. Its a joke around here too. I'm sure it'll damage my car's suspension, tyres and tracking.

I think that most people were ready for a change after the last administration assuming that 'things can only get better'. Wrong. In my experience, despite inheriting a relatively stable economy the NHS and it's waiting times are worse, education certainly doesn't seem any better, the road schemes are just idiotic and our pensions ....well. My problem with today's society and Government is that everything is far too target related. The problem seems to be that targets have to be hit in all walks of life, the difficulty is achieving them so instead people find ways of making it look like they have reached targets...i.e. everyone needs to get to see a doctor within 48hrs was the target......the reality.....our doctors stopped allowing pre booked appointments, you could only book an appointment for the same day, but try ringing the doctors at 8.30am to get an appointment for the same day and you can't get through cos it's too busy ,by the time 15 minutes has past and you get through all the appointments have gone.Targets are counter productive.

politics operates on lies, sooner or later they start to contradict.

In this life, just do what you like, without harminig anybody else.

Simple as that.

K.

PS. When war brakes out at a serious level, we should send all London buses and their drivers - they are far better at causing serious damage than any air to surface missile. I am sure the requirements for bus drivers in London are....

1) You must be colour blind so red looks like green :-)))
2) You must be foriegn and have no UK driving licence or UK road awareness.
3) You must be illiterate so as not to be able to read road signs
4) You must have a dormant expression, bad attitude, and never alter it.
5) You must be rude, and have zero compasion to car drivers.

even then, they still focus in on the truley absurd and dangerous people to work for them. Scrap all buses i say!!! go with trams that can't deviate from lane to lane.

It works in NL - their transport is ACE !!!

Too many mods to list, PM me if the cat needs killing...

Get rid of your new, fuel effiecent Mini and get a suitably large off roader, you'll not be bothered about the pot holes then!!!!!

Dont know about that, most of the Mums with kids and men in suits who drive the 4x4s around here seem more worried about going SLIGHTLY off the side of the road onto a soft verge than I am. They seem to need at least a foot between their wing mirror and the side of the road.

We lucky aussies were "priviledged" enough to have ****(head) Cheney visit Sydney a few weeks back. Not only did he need to lug his ugly rear end over here in Airforce2, but there were also a flock of henchmen, sidekicks and his regular posse of fools. Along with them came his private Caddy,(no doubt Osama proof) and a small fleet of escort vehicles(no, not Escorts, I said an escort). Now while us peasants on the streets are told to conserve water, fuels and feel guilty for paying top dollar for everything we use, schlums like Cheney use these (supposedly) precious fossil fuels quicker than small townships.
To add insult to injury, whilst ol' Cheney was in Sydney whenever they needed to cart his ass across town major traffic jams occured, because Mr Special had all the roads blocked to allow a clear path for him to travel, making quicker commuting for him and his flock of henchmen and also minimising the chance of a run in with Osama or a simple carjacking.
Now, what was happening while ol' **** was briskly travelling around? All us poor peasants were sitting in massive traffic jams, burning up the precious fossil fuels that we had paid a small fortune for in the first place.
Funny how we are to blame, and we should feel guilty for the current state of the environment.

Over here i Oz, an ex car racer used to advertise how us commoners should regularly tune our cars because of the damage that us commoners cause to the environment by wasting fuel. I don't know the specific facts, but I believe he made a successful career out of using that same fuel at a rate far quicker than a hundred "commoners" would use in a lifetime.

Do I feel guilty keeping a light globe on, or accelerating hard off at a set of lights, or washing my car? No friggin way.

What amazed me was that F1 is carbon neutral!? They apparently have a big forrest in Southern Mexico (or somewhere like that), where they're planing trees to compensate not only for the race cars, but for the visitors, planes etc. The whole thing!? Sounds too good to be true, but the claim I heard was that Athelitics are more damaging to the environment than F1!

Sound far to good to be true.

Ol' Bernies hair do requires the use of more fossil fuels per year than a MINI diesel, by the look of it.
