Here's food for thought... Saab = GM, right? GM = Dodge, Chrysler and Plymouth (here in the US, at least) The Tritech engine was made by Chrysler in Brazil. So does the engine (soul) of the 1st generation MINI therefore = GM? If so, then the 1st gen MINI = Saab! (this is meant to be funny... IMO a MINI is a MINI, whatever model or generation it may be) ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. I'm a driving enthusiast... and I still like the R56"

: :Its not a BMW. TBH only 5 series, 7 series and x5 drivers act like ******s. Most 3 series and other BMWs are ok ... in the main. MINI drivers tend to let MINI drivers out etc but there is a agrowing number of people with BMW 5 series drivers mentallity getting MINIs because they are 'cool' ![]() Ignore them and get involved with the MINIscene and you'll see the vast majority of MINI owners are defo not like that. This is the most unprofessional bit of site management I have seen since I was banned from a certain other site...at least they had the excuse that they were enthusiasts who had strong views and not professionals paid to keep thier cool!

...and we second generation types aren't free of the interesting bedfellows, either, since the new car is a collaboration between BMW and PSA (using PSA's new Prince engine). BMW is the parent company to both MINI, Rover (no longer in use) and Rolls Royce. From the early 60's into the 80's Citreon had control over Chrylser (GM) in Europe. PSA has worked hand-in-hand with FIAT to build the Sevel. FIAT runs Lancia, Alpha, Innocetti, Autobianchi, Albarth and Masarati. They also own Ferarri... but to be honest, they're run in-house and only borrow electronics here and there. PSA will be working with Toyota (parent comapy to Lexus and Scion) to build a ultra conpact city car. PSA have also entered into an agreement with Mitsubishi Motors to impot the Mitsubishi Outlander (re-badges as a Citreon C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007). GM rebadges a bunch of Mitsubishi cars in the US into Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth and Jeep vehicles, too. PSA also supplies engines used by Ford and Volve cars. Ford and Volvo are under the PAG (Premier Automotive Group) umbrella... which also own Jaguar, Land Rover, Daimler, Rover, Auston Martin (sold just recently), Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. The connections in the automotive world are mindboggling! ![]() Founding member of R56 Anonymous: "Hello. My name is Mike. I'm a driving enthusiast... and I still like the R56"

I'm not sure about this stereo type thing as all the BMW drivers I know are actually ok shock horror.... I know we all argue we are MINI drivers etc and I had to argue my point to my friends Grandad after he said I don't own a MINI I own a BMW frustrating!! But on the whole i'd say its more to do with people being ****s in general than what they actually drive and if all BMW drivers were that bad then none of them would be my friends and my family members also disowned.. Extreme measures I think u'd agree

Ha ha :-) First things first, the Mini has all the fun and grunt of the classic Mini of yore and now comes with a little more build quality thanks to our German friends. So don't worry! Once you get moving in your Mini you won't care who built it There's nothing like driving a Mini! My favorite bit is being flat out, feeling every part of the road and listening to the sound coming out of the back... Saab's a nice car , but the Mini's a whole different world altogether!!Enjoy it - and customize it with something funky - whoever heard of a funky BMW? PS - I drive a 3 series too ![]() '02 '03 '05 '08 JCW >>purring<<

Hello everyone! I have always been a huge SAAB fan, In fact, all three of my previous cars (im only 20 years old) have been SAAB's (92' 900i, 90' 900 SPG, 98' 9-3 2.0i), but in a week I will get my first Mini (2002 Mini One). I have been extremely pleased with my SAAB's, but the Mini has a little more flair and is more exciting the SAAB's. I can't wait to get the Mini
