Liquid Yellow or Mellow Yellow?

Which one do you like best?

I (obviously) prefer "Liquid Yellow". I feel that "Mellow Yellow" looks a lot like the yellows used by other car makers.

I'm still not sure.... although you can now spec Mellow Yellow on a Cooper Convertible, which I think suits it better than Liquid Yellow, still not sure on the R56 though...

Saw a Mellow Yellow Cooper S on the motorway yesterday - looked fantastic, much better than LY in my opinion. If I ever return to MINI ownership I would actually be very tempted to go for MY!

Black Cooper

Liquid Yellow for me - Mellow Yellow looks too 'mustard' for my liking - I hate mustard!

Green Cooper

Although I currently drive a BRG/White Cooper, I do prefer mellow mellow to the liquid yellow. I think they look good with a black roof. May get that colour combination on my next one.

I prefer LY as my Cooper is LY/B.

From photographs, I do like Mellow Yellow. However, I saw one on the road not so long ago and I wasn't that impressed.

It looks lovely with a white roof

I think the problem with the one I saw was it had the body coloured roof and no stripes. So it looked very plain.

As for MY/W, this combination works much better than LY/W ever did. The white works well against the darker yellow. I've never seen a LY/W MINI which I've really liked (no offence to LY/W owners out there). They always look a little insipid. Black seems to provide a bit of contrast (under-statement if ever there was one ) and makes it look sportier.

On MY/B, I think there is more risk of it looking 'waspy', but from all the photos I have seen I like this combination. It seems the natural progression from my own MINI.

Sorry Julio, I prefer Mellow Yellow.

But not by much!

I know what you mean by it being a bit 'samey' though!

For me a well turned out LY car with a few accents (stripes or interesting decals) looks nicer than MY at the moment. MY looks a bit Council Gritting Truck without a contrast roof and stripes.
Dark Silver Vipers on an all MY car looks cool though

Liquid Yellow is far better than Gold!

LY is more vibrant and....Happier!

Now...for ease of comparison, I have included this picture taken from the Top Gear run earlier this month (With some editing in Paint )

Got to be MY for me.

When I was ordering my R56 went in to the dealer to buy a pepper white, changed to MY cos my dealer said that the cream colourline didn't go with PW and eventually changed a few days later to British Racing Green ! ! !

MY is the yellow I thought LY would be before I actually saw it ! !

I have to say LY at the moment, but i didnt like this colour to start with. I think that the yellow cars only look good when the roof is in the body colour (as mine is).

I was thinking AA or retro BT Van myself. Round us they were always yellow Austin Maestro vans and I just can't get the image out of my head when i see a MY MINI. Sorry MY is not for me, IMO possibly the worst colour MINI have ever done. Sorry to all those MY lovers, just my opinion.
